Do You Remember Where You Were When.... .....you heard the news that Prince and The Revolution had split up?
I was at my cousin's house watching a late night music channel called "Music Box" on TV in Leeds at 3am (just after ITV started transmitting 24 hours in the UK) when they had it on as breaking news. I couldn't believe it!

yes, it was announced on MTV News
and i think they made mention of Prince's next album too then soon after, Mark Goodman from MTV had interviewed Wendy & Lisa and it went something like this... Mark: "So Prince says that you all parted ways amicably..." Wendy: "No, he fired us... he FIRED us." Lisa smiles, slightly amused at Wendy's frankness. Mark introduces the "Waterfall" video.

I had just gotten home from school and I was watching Mtv. Martha Quinn says "up next in the news, Prince disbands the Revolution" and I had no idea what that meant so I kept watching. Then in the news she said that the Revolution were broken up and I fucking cried for 2 weeks, ask anyone who knows me I had just seen them 3 months before they split up so it was hard to believe, but it got easier when I realized that I would be getting an album of JUST Wendy and Lisa.

I couldn't believe it! I was in college. I heard it on the radio. I ran to my friend's room (fellow Prince freak...although I had just gotten into his music) to see if he had heard the news. I asked him if it upset him and he said..."No. The first few Prince albums were just him in the studio. So, I knew him before the Revolution and he is just as good without them." Being the new Prince fan, I then decided that I wasn't too upset either. I know...such a follower.

I never "learned" it since i discovered Prince in 89. But I remember that The Revolution was my fave band & era 4 a long time, which made me spending hours regretting they disbanded...
I would have LOVED "Dream Factory"

Neither one of you could have seen what the next few years held musically though Prince with the Revolution is as good as Prince gets in the studio no doubt. Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

I was 7 when it happened but I didn't know about the split till I was 8 and saw the video for U Got The Look. I noticed everyone was different. He had a dancer with him and Sheila E was playing the drums and I was like what happened to The Revolution? Then the Wendy & Lisa video came on and I got my answer. [Edited 8/31/05 13:30pm] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I couldn't believe it! Yes, I was at my girlfriends' mother's house on the couch and Mark Goodman announced it on the MTV new section. I could not believe it because I had previously read that Rollling Stone interview and also thought they all were in it forever. That they were tight knit.
