New prince old show Wouldn't it be cool to see prince now doing "Purple rain" the concert just like he did back then, music the same, same band, same stage, How about "parade" would that be more of the a blast?
But it just would be cool if he has changed at all, or if he can still hold a HUGE show, and also just to see prince in that Purple jacket again, damn, I'll pay to see that! Keenmeister

nah. it would be like seeing david bowie dressed as ziggy stardust again. it would be kind of gross and pathetic.

Interesting dream, but that's all it would ever be - a dream.
Sorry Andy, I agree with Anx, it would not only NOT be the same, but would tarnish the memories / iconic imagery of those eras too. My PS: I'm in London!

I wouldn't want to see the "Purple Rain" show again but I would enjoy some new music with that type of sound or even some unreleased stuff from that era and the eras before it. Andy is a four letter word.

it's nice to see the old concerts on video, especially the purple rain tour. it puts what he's doing now in perspective. for me, anyway.

Yeah, it's just such a shame that show is filmed so badly - not to mention the tour lighting was far too dark for a lot of it (as perfectly highlighted during 'Computer Blue') There was a big arguement over the filming of the Lovesexy gig for pretty much the same reasons - I'll see if I can dig the piccy up with the info... mode [Edited 8/26/05 1:51am]

thx 4 the info, BC
ppl tend to forget that Lovesexy was as big in Europe as Purple Rain was in the States it's good to be reminded what an awesome album America must learn NOT to judge a "book" by its cover, eh anyway... the Lovesexy show was beautifully filmed especially considering it wasn't rehashed a million times over like SOTT just too bad us in the States didn't get to see the videos until years later tho i did get to catch it on tour -- i was 18 man, Prince was a trip -- so freaky, so cool, so funky, so smooth he made each year seem like a decade the way he changed each time i'd love to see Prince do some of these things again... but not like he used to do i'd just like to have the same feeling but now with something new

When it comes to the visual aspect, Prince and the Revolution still look great...Prince still has nice, thick and full hair, his physical fitness seems to be excellent, at least he looks like he´s in unbelievably good shape, and Wendy and Lisa also look alright. I don´t get why so many people dissed Wendy´s looks after the Tavis Smiley gig with Prince ( Reflections).
I was positively surprised about Bobby Z and the Dr., too. ( In the special footage of the Purple Rain 20th year anniversary DVD).. I guess the only one who´s changed drastically is Brownmark, not that it matters, just give him three weeks in the gym and he´ll be alright, as long as he´s still great on the bass.( I think him and Sonny are perfect for that Mpls Funk sound). Just put Prince in a purple trenchcoat, give him some Jheri curls, and voila, there you go. Just speaking about the visual possibilities here . But, dear Andy, what would be the point in doing so ? I agree with ´Nana, it would be like a parody. I´d much rather see him do a live rendition of some songs he´s never or only rarely performed live, like , for instance, The Dance Electric or Electric Intercourse or Others Here With Us or In A Large Room With No Light or Baby,You´re A Trip or Noon Rendezvous or another version of Something In The Water. But then again, with some songs, for instance the Dance Electric, I fear that the new version would no longer have the same punch as the old Linn LM1 version. Some songs simply sound better with it instead of live drums. Some other songs sound great in their new incarnation ( Empty Room and many others). Let´s live in the here and now. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
