adore it gets me EVERY time.
just something about this song that makes it such a thrill on every listen. the lyrics, the drive, the (slap)bass, the amazing vocals, the desperation, thank you prince for having done this. forever it will even all up!! its the best. it makes my heart cry. | |

Got to agree with you there. It's one of the best love songs I've ever heard.
It's just so overwhelmingly romantic and sweet. It can't help but dig deep into your heart and bring all the feelings of love you hold for your partner straight to the surface. It's musical heaven. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

His aII time best baIIad. My personaI favorite. AII about romance, ardent Iove. The first time I heard it I was hooked, it made me wanna write Iove songs, and sing, pIay intruments aII that. Yeah, this is the main song by Prince and the only non-single in steady rotation on my local urban radio station...and it's my all-time favorite song.

It's nice but it's all a bit much for me. I never really dug it. On SOTT alone I prefer Forever in My Life and If I Was Your Girlfriend and possibly even ICNTTPOM though I know thats not a ballad. The Beautiful Ones kicks it's ass for beauty and even a couple of tracks on One Nite ALone such as Here on Earth and A Case of U. And what about I love u but I don't Trust U anymore, Do Me Baby or The One? | |

Ah, those too, are some of my favorite ballads by P, but "Adore" is a whole different thing. It comes from the deepest part of your heart, mind, and soul and takes you to another place that those songs cannot. I've compiled several different types of slow jam cds and have never been able to include "Adore" because it is so unique. All IMO, ofcourse.  | |

That's pretty much exactly how I feel. I just can't get into Adore. It's too sappy or something. Also, awhile ago there was a thread on here discussing Forever In My Life & Adore as the two songs at the end of each SOTT disc, and it seemed like several people felt that Adore was more of the "get a piece of ass" song, while Forever in My Life was a more sincere love song. I agree with that. I feel like Adore is almost too over the top in its emotion and becomes unbelievable. I know not liking Adore is tantamount to blasphemy on here, but please don't hate!  The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp. | |
