Stop Playin'! David is ur buddy? Rebel Rebel is awesome! I was just there a couple of weeks ago 2 get a single by Dave Gahan and another disc by Royksopp. That guy has super memory. It's been a looong time since I was there and he remembered me right away. But his memory of where everything is in that store is unbelieveable! Ray was 2 cool, always smiling. I wondered why they closed down. The last time I was there the owner ur talking about didn't look 2 well, now I know why . That place was the spot, I got the majority of my CDs and videos there. And we're talking a lot!

I hadn't heard much of his new music because I was out of the main stream for a while. Searching for anything Prince related, I found a chat room called "Paisley Park." I was amazed to hear the excited enthusiasm there. Evidentially Prince had put out much more than Purple Rain and Batman.
Everyone kept talking about these 'parties' and 'jams' at Paisley Park until i found out how to get on a list. Before Prince started putting out invitations on his site, a super great guy from the Minneapolis Music site, would send out emails letting people know that there'd be a party. When I'd arrive at Paisley Park, sometimes in freezing weather there'd always be others there waiting in line. Sometimes loyal fans would wait for hours only to find out that nothing was going to happen and the doors weren't going to open. Among the people there, many had traveled from a distance. Yet, in a week or two we'd all be back just in case this time Prince would let us in. The times that Prince showed up and jammed, many times til dawn, always made up for anytime that he didn't. That's a great story Flash, I've been into Prince for 24 years but only became acquainted with other Prince folks online or in person within the last couple years. Looks like I missed all the jams and celebrations at Paisley, Do you think he'll ever have those again? Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I'm sure we would've been. I used 2 go 2 Revolver nearly once a week. I bought so much from that store it's not even funny, from video, 2 vinyl, 2 CDs, 2 magazines. There were a few other stores in the area as well but I 4got their names. 1 was on the corner of Jones and W4th... Runner Records I think another was on Sullivan St and of course Rebel Rebel. There was also another 1 a few stores down from Revolver. I started going down there in '89, it was like being a kid in a candy store!

you know what's funny? in six years of living in new york city, i never met ONE prince freak. even after i started posting on the org. nada. it was like a little secret interest that i had because nobody i knew gave a crap about prince. then i moved to chicago and WHOOSH! org invasion! That's like me but in reverse. I first found out about Prince "freaks" through attending Prince Night at Berlin (Chicago). For 5+ years it was easy to find Prince fans...but two years ago I moved to New York and it's like being stuck in a vacuum. No Prince Night, no hard core fans, I even have a hard time finding good wrecka stows (althought this thread has given me some new ideas ). Thankfully I have the org, where there are people even more obsessed than me! The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

This store started my collection as well. My best friend told me about this store in fact. He's the 1 that basically got me in2 Prince in the 1st place but when Prince disbanded the Revolution he lost interest minus SOTT. He said "yo I found this store in the village that has all this Prince stuff, u gotta go!" So, he took me down there and I was in awe! Posters, books, Controversy magazines. I had heard about the Black Album so I asked if they had it expecting them 2 say no but they said yes. I almost fainted when they handed it 2 me, it was the black on black parade era pic with the purple letter sticker reading "Black Album". Not knowing anything about bootlegs back then I thought it was the real deal, silly me . I remember seeing the cassettes but I didn't pay much attension 2 tapes just vinyl and CDs. I'm suprised Ray didn't tell us about 1 another.
