Recently I would have 2 say the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame jump on "While My Guitar..."
In classic days Purple Rain ending, I could Never Take the ...solo in SOTT Movie, Question of U in Japan 1990 Nude Tour, and 1994 when I was in South Beach catching the Artist on the Santana Medley. That was like heaven.. Lmas C. Micasa

That one hurts, doesn't it? For me it's "Just My Imagination" at my "neighbours", he worked that Model C. the way it was meant to be, and the majority of the "The Undertaker" album... Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O

I've said it b 4, but the guitar work in Joy in Repetition, on the Alladin disc, is on fire! - One of my fave Prince moments ever! The guitar work on ´When doves cry´ is so amazing that I stopped to hear it on the radio even hating Prince´s music back then (I was into heavy metal) Love so many moments....Interactive, Footprints Fillmore, Whole Lotta Love (Aladdin), The Ride, Glass Cutter, Just my imagination, etc etc

I haven't read everything that was written, but go ahead and edit this to correct the location of that version of "Joy In Repetition" to be on the 'It Ain't Over" aftershow disc. Unless, you have a version that most of us haven't heard??? I also wanted to add that another jaw dropping guitar moment was in the televised La Caru~na Nude Tour show when he did "Purple Rain" I guess the "guitar faces" he made were a big part of it, also! I almost forgot....but everytime I hear his solo on ´Call the Law´ from Sacrifice of Victor video, I think ´DAMN!!´.....one of his best guitar moments ever. He was truly inspired that night. ´The ride´ from the same concert is amazing too.

I really dig most of Prince's guitar playing up to & including his Purple Rain
period. Not that the other stuff isn't good...I just favor the 1978-1985 a whole lot. Just a lot of real tasty & tasteful playing and the lead tone is a lot more pleasing to my ear. So keeping this in mind... one of my all time favorite Prince guitar moments is the all the guitar work on the track "My Love Is Forever" from the "For You" album. Juat to play the devil's advocate...why such a big deal over the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame performance? It was good & I enjoyed it but I'm just not hearing what alot of the other orgers are raving about. It's as though it's some sort of validation of his skill/chops as a player for some folks. There was never a doubt in my mind that Prince is a great player. Good performance (a bit showboaty), just not earth shattering.... at least to my ear. -kstrat- [Edited 9/6/05 10:57am]

It fits perfectly in that kind of music.

The WMGGW solo is just one of those that doesn't contain a note that could/should be changed, IMO. It's perfect the way it is. My favorite moment is, after the bodyguard held Prince, he and Tom Petty look at each other, as if Prince is kind of asking if he should go on. Prince then bends forward and totally rocks it. Opens his mouth a bit and shakes his face. Classic.
Gonna watch it now! | |

Bambi on The Undertaker. The opening is bad enough but the end where P comes back to the main theme then plays those shrieking runs before the Allmans-like noodle-jam is just too hard to beat.
