MorehouseMan said: Beautiful Strange, the live performance at the House of Blues in Hollywood after the Rainbow Children concert on Saturday night. It was absolutely unbelievable and I have no idea why he did not place that performance on the It Ain't Over disc. Absolutely phenomenal. The H.O.B lights were down low with the spotlight on him and his guitar. I am not a professional guitarist and cannot speak on his technical prowess that night, but the passion was there and it was unbelievable. I've never heard such beautiful and HAUNTING sounds on the guitar. He was on another level then. I haven't seen anything like it and probably never will.
I was there that night and yeah, that was a good example of his playing. I've seen P many times live, and in different stages in his career. He has had good moments on his recordings, but even better moments when he's playing live. I always have to go with his live renditions of the song "Purple Rain". No matter what band lineup he's playing with at the time, what venue, club, what year or what mood he's in, when he gets to his solo on this song, all of his love and passion that he has for the guitar, comes out during this solo. If u get P on the right night, he'll fuck around and play this solo for 20 minutes! All his pain, his joy, is right there in that solo. He reminds me the most of Hendrix during this, mostly because of what I described. He wears all of this on his sleeve. So, hands down, for me, is his solo to "Purple Rain". RRHOF
Eye Wish U Heaven from the Lovesexy Live DVD ("say hello to the blue angel...") The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Even though it may not be his biggest guitar solo, I really liked his guitar solo on The Question Of U. Especially on the special feature of the GB the live footage of him playing on top of that piano. I like how he like strums the guitar it sustains and he plays part of the song with just his left hand. Also I would say anytime he plays Purple Rain live he rips it up on the solo spot.

I say this because it's true, the first time I heard the opening rip from Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad , subconciously I was hooked, and now I am a true funk soldier. Some other nice moments are Computer Blue, America, I C N T T P O Y M, So Blue, Gotta Broken Heart Again, rest assured others will state their favorites. Jeux Sans Frontiers

. [Edited 8/24/05 12:36pm] I'm with U on that. If this is the same show as his birthday show on 6/84. I liked the way they decided to change the music. Way different than what's on 1999 and I love it.

Agree with you on this. For the first time in a long time I was proud to be a P. fan. Also one of my old mates who used to listen to Heavy Metal and rock bands used to love the Batdance Guitar Solo (love it myself).

Every time he's does his solo... but... I remember when I first heard his solo on "Why U Wanna Treat Me So Bad"... I was like damn... sounds so clean and good. My dad would rewind this song over and over and over just to play that solo... I was just a kid but... I knew it was a hot guitar solo. Paul G II
