Ok, I have not read the lyrics to this one for a while, but is the girl in the song actually a girl who basically can use his love and basically "be back in time for the morning papers"? In otherwords, carry on as normal the next day?

in a nutshell I always thought it was about a couple with a large difference in age, who steal away to be together and are back in time to read about it in the morning papers.

Haha, don't know if i've ever thought too much about the lyrics in this one.
I just have always loved the guitar in it and the passion of the vocal performance. I just gave it a listen and the horns are killer on that track also. Thats one of the reasons the love symbol album is listed as one of my faves in my profile; I love the horns on it. I can't believe people don't like Blue Light more; it is such a pretty song.

I think mostly it appears to be about the age difference between a couple (why is age more than a number/when it comes 2 love) and also how that can be an obsession for the media, ie if they are seen together that will be an issue focused on by the papers.

There's also an element of having to be patient with this girl because of her age, and also because of her lack of experience she treats the relationship far more trivially than him - he opens his heart to her, but she just takes that without understanding the importance of it: "If he poured his heart into a glass/And offered it like wine/She could drink and be back in time for the morning papers".

I had a thread a while back on this where a lot of people tore me a new posterior because I said it made me queasy with the whole underage thing. It still does. The whole 15 year old princess motiff just kinda ruins the concept of the album for me even though, as I have stated many times, I love several songs on it.

Its funny cuz i read a review about the "love symbol" album and they (critics) interpreted the song to be about a relationship between P and an older woman. I never got that at all. It seemed that P was the one interested in a girl much younger than he. They continued their love affair and were able to read about it in the morning papers.
