was anyone here at this aftershow...if so do u have a tracklisting...managed to see him at the infamouse POD aftershow but was out of the contry for the One Nite Alone tour

i think it was just an afterparty, (not an actual show) held in Spirit on mid Abbey St. Unfortunately I couldn't make it although I did get to see the concert in The Point that night

It was a show alright, in Spirit. From what I can remember of the reports I know he played Joy in Rep...

I was just at the point gig that nite also - pisses me off I missed it.

Definitely a show - I was there - cool gig, especially as I missed out on the POD gig by a night (saw him checking out the club for 2 minutes on the first night.)
I was a bit too tired & emotional to remember the set list, more interested in being 8 feet away from the man himself. Should be able to find it somewhere on the net though.

Can you guys let me know when he's played here (Ireland I mean).

I was at the Nude Tour in Cork 1990 and the show in the RDS in 1992 (first time I ever heard Sexy MF so it was presumably the Act I show and not the Diamonds and Pearls Tour).

I know he played here in 2002 (I figure that was the one nite alone tour) but I was away and could'nt get tickets.

Did I miss anything else?

The RDS in 1992 was the D&P Tour. He sang Sexy MF at this before the Symbol ALbum came out. Carmen Electrs was support but didnt show up !

Act 2 didnt come to Ireland though (Act 1 was only in the U.S).

He played 2 nights in 1995 on Ultimate Live Experience/Gold Experience Tour in the Point Depot. The aftershow was after the second night.Amazing night. Met him outside...I didnt know what to say though. Had a chat with Tommy Barbarella and shook his hand....the hand that played the Sexy MF solo !!!

I had no idea he was here in '95. My fan level was wavering after the come album but I did really enjoy The Gold Expericnce when it came out. Oh the days when I used buy all his albums on tape so I could listen in the car.

If nothing else I reckon Musicology can be credited for bringing alot of old time fans back from the wilderness. Rave was a big disappointment and rainbow children was hard to get into. One Nite Alone Live was pretty good but NEWS was the wrong direction for me. If it wasn't for Musicology I might've stop listening and gone over to Neverland or off with Ziggy and his spiders on Mars.

Bowie 2003 was still the best concert I was ever at. How do you rate Prince's Irish gigs? I marginly prefer the Nude Tour cos of the funky jam at the end and mabye cos I wasn't pissed, oh and cos he played along to oh ah Paul McGrath on Guitar.

I heard that at that show he told the crowd to stop singing 'Ole Ole' or he'd walk off! Proper order too, I hate all that 'Ole Ole' crap at every single outdoor gig in this country.

I was too young for 1990 and missed 1992 as I was only starting to get into him at that stage.

1995 was strange for me - incredible to see him at last, and he played good as always, but it just wasn't the experience i had expected.

2002- now that was the bomb! It was as perfect a gig as I have been to. The band were brilliant, and the choice of tunes, and the contrast from the funk of the first half to the stripped down piano in the second half was great...there was also a great vibe around that gig that just hadn't been there in 95..

Don't know if anyone else supported him in 92...if any, as we were in the bar across the road....

TI remember the 95 shows having a great vibe...then again I was in the front row for both concerts and the aftershow (which was amazing).The thing which may have annoyed casual fans is that he played no hits...apart from the most be girl in the w.

I remember reading an article where he said the irish audience were one of the most responsive. Having seen him in the UK several times, I'd have to agree. Live Experience Tour 95 in Wembley Arena was unbelievable in that the crowd were so dead....

Prince went into hiding and didn't record any new tracks until 2004 in conjunction with the opening of his new website Princetunes.com where you can download a billion unreleased tracks. The website earned him the title of master webmaster and Prince now lives on the moon in a self built space station.

I guess I became a real fan when I 'got' 1999. I had bought it shortly after Purple Rain, listened to it once, didn't think much of it. I went back to it a couple of months later, determined to give it a chance, and ended up loving it more than Purple Rain. I guess that was late 84 / early '85.

I don't know who the biggest fan is but that guy on the FM104 breakfast show Jim Jim is pretty close i'd say. He is always mentioning and playing Prince whenever he gets the chance, and I remember he went to a few of the European shows on the ONA tour.

well, I loved 'When Doves Cry' when it came out....I even remember seeing the video on Top of the Pops ...was 13 at the time....then bought Purple Rain and Around the World on counterfeit cassettes when on a scholl trip to Italy. Then bought all the old albums on cd...the one I remember blew me away most on first hearing was 'Prince' esp. 'I wanna be ur lover'...i remember meeting some major fans at the POD gig, I wonder if you guys are some of those people ?

I wasn't really expecting a Purple Rain or 1999 revisited at all - they were the only 2 albums I had when ATWIAD came out. Those two albums are so different that I didn't really know what to expect next, other than to be surprised.

I think I fell in love with it more or less straight away and I probably still listen to it more often than a lot of the other albums.

As far as it not being very big here, I can't say I noticed, as far as I remember Raspberry Beret and particularly Paisley Park got plenty of airplay - remember Radio Nova - they used to play the latest Prince stuff regularly.

He also played Calhoun Sq. at Spirit that night.

I've been a fan for a LONGGGGG time. First time I saw him in concert was Wembly Arena Aug 13 1986. 19 FUCKING years ago! My parents let me and a cousin travel to England on a ferry to go to the gig! I was 15!! Cuz was 16!! WTF!!

Have seen him countless times since, with Lovesexy 88 as a highlight actual gig. The Spirit aftershow was something special tho'.

They don't seem to have much Prince stuff in those wreka sto's these days...although I did pick up a 12" picture disc of 'U got the look' in Borderline Records last year! Oh Yeah!

Was Boderline the record shop upstairs and around the corner from the hay penny bridge? They did some great bootleg tapes. My first bootleg was the Black Album on O'Connell St. I thought the quality was terrible but the cd is not much better.
