Really people, who cares if Prince puts out an album this year!!!

Ever since the release of his last album, everyone is like "oh where is the next one" and like in the past an album will come out; people will love/hate it; pick out songs that love/hate; say it's his best/worst, compare to other albums and then move on...

I have been a fan since 1987, IMO the quality of his music has gone done hill since then, though I still support his albums, go to his concerts. But the bottom line is he has not put out an earth shattering album in the last 15 years, we have some gems here and there (TGE, D&P, CB). But that's it, nothing comes from him that what made you a fan is he still recording. He rants and raves about JW's. For me that's a turn off.

Shut up record some decent material again, stop pissing and moaning about the record industry and how unfair they are (we got that message over 10 years ago).

I rather wait 5 years on new material that was carefully thought out and produced properly, than getting an album with select few good tracks from an album here and there. In that time. I could always go back to the earlier stuff and say this was when this man was on top of his game.

I would like 4 him 2 release an album, that would bring a tour 4 me 2 go 2 and Prince television appreances. Other than that I dont care, I'm tryin' 2 collect more of his old stuff.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

There's never going to be a consensus among his fans about what songs are good tracks and which aren't -- so he might as well share what he's been working on, no matter what. Musicology only has a few tunes that I really like, but hey, that's fine with me. Just keep 'em coming. I'd rather find a gem here and there than wait 5 years for only his "best," not knowing what else he may have been working on that I would've liked as well. In this way, it'd be nice if he used his website more often to "free the children" (as he used to say).

It would be great if he did,but at the end of the day he isnt going anywhere.
i dont mind waiting.

We as Prince fans are really blessed with prince's out-put that even if a new album doesnt come out exactly a year from his last one, people start panicking.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I think alot of people want him to be young again. He's almost 50. He can't go out and be that young funk-rocker again.

This thread reminded me of a thought I had the other day. Who is gonna be the heir 2 his estate? I wonder if he has any plans 4 Paisley Park, all of it's contents (music, instruments, equipment, etc.). Would family or some1 else try and compile his vault material in2 albums? I wonder...

That is interesting to think about. Heck he may even have given instructions that if something happens to him someone goes in and destroys all his vault material so noone can release it even if he isn't here. He's a big enough control freak so that I wouldn't doubt it.

I've got you beat because I think the very first time he started going downhill was after the "Purple Rain" album. However, I still want him to release an album a year, hell even two or three a year, because no one else in the today's music world has anything that sounds worth a damn. I stopped buying new music from current artists in the early 1990s when the whole music scene made a drastic change for the most boring, midtempo, dead ass hip hop sounding worst. Prince's weakest work is 50 times stronger than their music and with no music coming from Prince, then there is absolutely no new music worth listening to.

Wow, what a refreshing new point of view!

A Prince "fan" who thinks Prince's output since 198wwhatever has been downhill and in steady decline. A fan who bitches an moans about every new Prince album for the last 15 or more years and still comes to prince.org to tell us about it. A fan wishing for "the good ol' days" when mean were men, school was an uphill walk both ways, and Prince made world changing music (and swore). I am so excited to read this new groundbreaking and insightful view point and I wish more of us would really start speaking our subjective opinions like the gospel truth. Hooray for whiny Prince fans far and wide!!!!!

thats not a fair statement..if you loved his music during a certain timeperiod then your a fan...you dont then retroactively dislike the stuff you used to love because you feel the artist has released a clunker...

come on now folks!! this place is for all fans..not just those who like everything.

cha know what i mean?
