Purple Rain, Sheila E 1986 show w/special guest P, Lovesexy, JOTY, Paisley Park private show, Musicology

by far Musicology was the best show...
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Pretty much seen them all from Purple Rain onwards, usually at least twice per
tour. All of them had their own identity and high points IMO.

I saw the same tours. The JOTY shows were OK. The first one I saw was kinda lame, but each one got a little better. The ONA show I saw was the shit. The soundcheck rocked and the show was awesome as well. At that Time i thought it was the best show i had ever seen. The Musicology shows were all great. The best was the essence fest hands down. prince in disquise opened the set with Larry and sheila showing up. next was the Time kicking ass like they do and prince again for 2 1/2 hours with Sheila, Chaka, Wendy.

Lovesexy (Seattle 88)
Jam of the Year (97)
ONA (02)
Musicology (twice in 04)

Each time I've seen Prince in concert I've been blessed with tickets that are closer to the stage than each previous time.

Lovesexy-Los Angeles 1988
Act I-Los Angeles 1993
Jam of the Year-Irvine 1997

Two other times I was supposed to see him after that, but he cancelled on two separate occasions. At that point I made the decision that I would only see him live if he came somewhere close to me; close meaning like less than 20 minutes drive. But since that has never happened since, I haven't seen him live in quite some time.

... the first is still the best:
PARADE TOUR
19-08-86 Rotterdam

Man, that was a fantastic evening!

The Cobo Arena Detroit 1986 birtday concert is also my favourite broadcast / boot-DVD,
but that's mainly because the quality of the Controversy-tour boot-DVD's aren't that great.

I really would have loved to attain a Controversy show

By the way ... there are loads of fans who have seen much more shows ....
I've known fans who followed the Tours through Europe, which means they've seen at least about 20 shows of each tour ....and I'm not talking about one or two people

Hmm. Let's see...

Purple Rain (1985) SF/Daly City

(Missed the Parade, SOTT, and Lovesexy tours - FUCK. I hated being poor.)

Act I (1993) SF (missed the aftershow)

JOTY (1997) Sacramento, SJ, and Mt. View (w/ Santana)

NPS (1998) SF (Ruby Skye - correct year?), SJ, and Oakland (last one in U.S.), plus my first aftershow!!

1st Celebration (2000) Minneapolis (was about a foot away from him, face 2 face, divided only by a small door; he wouldn't look up, only at the floor. I guess it didn't matter cuz I couldn't even speak!)

Hit N Run (2000-2001) Oakland, SJ (missed Filmore aftershow)

ONA (2002) Oakland (plus sound check)

Musicology (2004) Reno, LA opener (at the theater), 3x in SJ (saw him at the afterparty at Pete Escovedo's club)

It still hurts that I missed Parade, SOTT, and Lovesexy. WHY????!!!!!
