I heard arumor that one time Stevie Ray Vaughan and Prince were at a concert seeing someone else. They ended up sitting near each other. Stevis Ray approached Prince with the intent of introducing himself. He extended his hand. introduced himself and Prince just blew himm off as if he wasn't even there. Has anyone else heard that or have you anything to add to this?

I think it was at the Grammys

Stevie ended up saying "If you're Prince I must be the Queen Bee" just to get any response, which he didn't.

Poor Prince, he's just not normal.

I think the camera panned a "hall of fame" wall that showed all the people who recoreded at Paisley Park and Stevie Ray was on the wall.

actually, i have the story straight from Chris Laytons mouth. He was the drummer from Double Trouble, Stevies band.

Stevie was rehearsing for a tour at Paisley Park. Stevie had never met Prince at this point, but they would all see him in the halls with Kim Bassinger, which they thought was funny since she was taller.
Anyway, Bruce Springsteen was doing a show in Minneapolis one night and the band decided to go, hanging backstage they see Prince with his big body guard.
Stevie figures since he's rehearsing at Paisley Park, he might as well say hi and introduce himself to Prince. So he goes over to Prince and say's " Hi Prince, my name is Stevie Ray Vaughn". Which Prince ignores and never looks at Stevie. Stevie figuring Prince didn't hear him, repeats it, only to get a nasty look from Princes body guard.
So, at this point Stevie realizes that Prince is ignoring him, and remember, Stevie WAS pretty well known at this point with 3 albums out already. So Stevie walks right up to Prince and say's, "you may be a Prince, but i'm the King Bee mutha f*^%&r", and walks off- with Prince staring right at him.

that's the story.

Well, Stevie did almost tour with Bowie. I have the rehearsal-tapes somewhere, there were some interestings things
going on there - pop genius meets guitar extravaganza.

I am not sure what Stevie and Prince would jam to, other than the obligatory Hendrix-covers. That story (whenever it took
place) is a shame and a sin.

He was playing this one song and I am NOT KIDDING, his hand was strumming the guitar so dayum fast, his hand was like a blur. It really really sounded good, and I don't like the blues. The show interviewed musicians about SRV playing ability, and one summed it up best. If you tried really hard on a good day you might be able to duplicate SRV for about a minute then your arm and hand would cramp up. He would play hard like that thru the whole show. I know, I saw it myself.
If you haven't seen him play live or live taped, don't knock him. Just admit the truth... YOU DON'T KNOW!

Anyway, the man you are referring to is actually the aforementioned Steve Vai. He was with Frank Zappa for a few tours.
He made it into the hall of fame of Zappa alumni, and had a song devoted to him (a scarce honour, only a few bandmembers
ever got presented with this.)
