Sneaky Bass parts

You ever have a song you just usually listen to and don't really notice what its made of till all of a sudden one day outta nowhere?

I was just transferring my bsides disc to tape the other day (some of it anyhow) and just now noticed really how much of a part the bass plays in 17 days, she's always in my hair and Erotic City.
"Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

Hey, I just got a tape player and my car only has a tape deck. But I have no tapes...just Marvin Gaye's Here, My Dear (which is really good btw).

How do you transfer disc to tape?

Well I don't have a mp3 player or ipod so until more fundage shows up I still only have tapes a portable music carwise and as for my portable portable I never upgraded my compact cd player to shockproof so it bounces if I use it.

Yes I still am in the prehistoric area I have a walkman and a tape deck in the car. Thats how it came and I haven't upgraded it yet.

Nice to joke a little at my expense for sure, no problemo I can take it but I thought you were actually responding to the post topic. wink wink

Alphabet Street.

All of Prince's songs have great parts and sometimes they are buried in the mix. When you turn it up it's like "Wow!"

Actually it's the bass line in all three that have always been my favorite thing about them.

worship Criminally buried in the mix.

One of my favourites is the bass-line in 'U Got The Look' - especially the bit between "U walked in... I woke up". I love it when Prince makes every instrument 'sing' in the mix.

Does anyone know what instrument that is? A synthesiser?

Sorry to talk about another artist, but the bassline on "China Girl" is well hidden also, simple and terribly groovy biggrin

This is true for alot of his songs. He'll bury a bass line or even another guitar part very low in the mix so you'll almost have to be fully concentrating on the song to catch it. I still hear parts like this in songs I've heard 1,000 times.

The Parade album is full of Prince's mindblowing bass work, he puts on a clinic on that disc. The versatility is amazing and the majority of it is buried in the mix.
