If you love Rave, then you might not be into my favourites (I think Rave is his worst album), but you wanna go straight out and get Purple Rain, SOTT and Parade. The next day, get all the rest.

But you need to add 1999 to PR, Parade, and SOTT...all 4 of those are his best imo. Also seek out Gold Experience...its out of print but can be found on half.com or ebay...his best of the 90s imo. Someone said Rainbow Children...um...I LOVE it...but its kinda challenging listen with the deep narrator voice and the JW overtones...but it IS funky as can be and his most creative album in ages. Not sure if its the best one to get if you are new to stuff. My girlfriend is a medium level Prince fan...loves most of his 80s stuff, Gold Experience, Rave, and Musicology...but has yet to become a fan of TRC.

I disagree with you. He said he's not into the rock stuff, so TGE probably wouldn't be a good choice for him. However, I have to say that if you listen to TRC with absolutely no preconceptions, and with no knowledge of his religion, you'll find it's an EXCEPTIONAL effort. I mean, really, JW overtones? Would you even think this if someone hadn't said it first?

I highly recommend TRC.

All I am saying is TRC is probably not good for beginners...its a challenging listen even for hardcore fans...and yeah, there are DEFINITELY JW overtones...just listen to the title track!

1999 a timeless funk-fest classic.

nod
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!
