That might have something to do with the fact that for club members, TRC was free. And after Rave Un2 the Joy and the Year 2000, and the doo doo braids and "23 scriptures in a one night stand," TRC was a welcome breath of fresh air. It's the most cohesive piece of work he's done since LoveSexy. All of you haters can keep chugging your Haterade, but it won't change my feelings about this album. I know it took you by surprise. You didn't know what to do. You shoulda looked in his little eyes and said "No, are you?".

I worked last night putting away merchandise at the store I work at. The employees can listen to their personal music players. I was listening to one of the best albums made this decade; The Rainbow Children.

My supervisor came by and asked me what I was listening to. I had a smile on my face thinking he would have a positive response when I said PRINCE. I said PRINCE and he stopped smiling, looked at me cold and said PRINCE???

And I looked at him like yea PRINCE.

The look he conveyed to me was of disgust and to put it in a question: Are u Gay?*

I thought I’d be having a Purple Rain dialogue or something, but that surprised the hell out of me.

How can anyone not like PRINCE??? The man is amazing.

I’m a huge MJ fan, and no one has ever put me down for it in the slightest (maybe cause I’m a fairly big guy ) and I listen to the heaviest metal and some alternative stuff that mainstream people would find obscure. I had never got the “gas face” look.

Even though I own all of P’s proper releases, a number of videos and boots, I don’t consider myself a die hard. I only have one friend who is a diehard fam (he goes on HQ and NPGMC) and he’s a diehard music fan like me….. I don’t really discuss music with my other friends. (just with ppl online)

How do people react when you tell them you like or at the moment are listening to Prince? Do you ever get a negative reaction??

although I am confused by something from your post - did your supervisor ACTUALLY SAY TO YOU "Are you gay?", or is that what you just *assumed* he meant by his "disgusted look" to your choice of music? What I mean is, unless he made some effeminate gestures after you said you like Prince, or did something very obvious to convey to you the "are you gay?" message, then I wouldn't immediately assume a bigoted attitude was what he has. maybe he's just a regular old asshole with no manners who doesn't like Prince's music, and (immaturely) chose to put you down solely for THAT...with no sexuality undertones intended.
