It would have no bearing on my life and I would continue to worship as I pleased. Prince has had religion in his music since Controversy I don't see why if has become an issue all of a sudden. Sometimes the anti-religious people are worst than religious people with their constant crying and complaining. Don't you know how to tune things out that you are remotely interested in?

:eyeroll: Plus I have a feeling you dont actually care or are that conscientious of women's rights. And I bet you were busy rah-rah-ing when Prince was being his most chauvanistic in songs and more concerning his 80's -90's work. Its just a vibe I get from your posts

UR oversensitive. ur gonna suffer a lot living this world. and from reading one post on an internet forum, you can predict and tell me my future and judge me. wow

This has got to be one of the dumbest debates. I have the Purple Rain Tour 1985 VHS and he says the exact same thing. So has it been bothering you for 20 years or is this just the first time you heard it? Furthermore, who the hell are you to critique Prince's music? We are all here for a reason, we all love Prince! I just don't understand why one saying on a song would irritate you so much. So what if that are his beliefs, or if he desplays it sometimes, or some of his songs have a spiritual undertone. Oliver, if that one little saying bothers you that much than you are not a true Prince fan. Great, so he has done some songs that we don't like. But how many artists are out there now that have been doing this for a year, two years and you hate, 10 of there songs, all of there songs? Now sit back and think how long Prince has been doing this and how many songs you love. He can't make a CD with songs that everyone in the world likes. We are all differant and like differant things. Maybe I love what he said on the Rave DVD. So does that make me a sad person or make me dumb for liking it? NO! It means that I appreciate and like something else than you do. I can't stand the people that want to use this forum as a place to bash Prince. Last time I checked this was an "online fan community". That doesn't mean that you aren't entitled to your opinions but why must it be so negative? This is supposed to be a place to show appreciation for Prince, not to bash every small thing he does! If u and I were just ten feet closer, then I'd make u understand

Let me clarify: I LOVE PRINCE & HIS MUSIC. But come on ya'll; can a person not express his/herself without getting kicked in the testicles at multiple angles? I still think in 2000 and 20 years ago it was a sad; esp in 2000. What happened 2 the Prince who said: "When everybody calls the truth by a different name, and the indifference between us still remains?" Yes, we can't hold on2 segments of Prince's messages, but the man sho' nuff has contradicted himself thru the years. As I have always loved Princ's music, crap and quality, I will always appreciate whatever he puts out. But if I considered guilty for committing a crime yall, give me the electric chair!

so when Prince really didn't have a belief system in place....when he was vague....seem to be a little lost....some would say he was "open minded"....but now....
when he has decided that for him Jesus is the way...and THE TRUTH....he is blind....full of crap.....and he is somehow imposing his views on others. Shame that a christian can never state his/her belief without someone else being sooooo offended. His music, his song, his voice...his belief.

Where did you get those lyrics...cause I always heard them "maybe we better close it..." like in the original version. With it refering to the conflict between them, not their minds. Yes, that is what he said, and he's been adding in variations on this since the PR tour. Some of the variations: "Maybe we better close it, and let the Lord guide U..." "...and let Love guide U..." (and this was post-Lovesexy, when he had declared Love is God, God is Love) "...and let Jesus Christ guide U..." "...and let the Good Lord guide U..." "...and let the man upstairs guide U..." "...and let the Father of Jesus Christ guide U..." "...open up your Bibles, and let God guide U..." So, these are all variations on a theme, and only the last two are after his JW conversion. To me, they all say basically the same thing. Seems to me, folks are just now deciding to get offended since he belongs to a specific denomination. When he was non-specific in his Judeo-Christian beliefs, no one seemed to have a problem with it. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Shame that a christian can never state his/her belief without someone else being sooooo offended. His music, his song, his voice...his belief. 2 all who were offended by this post, I apologise...but U also have 2 understand where I am coming from. 1stly, 2 b precise, yes I have a problem with any doctrine/religion or whatever U want 2 call it, that perceives those outside of their faith being lost or not chosen or equal or whatever. Sadly, the JW's are dogmatic enuff 2 fit in2 that category. Secondly, my perspective is that TRUTH is a pathless road, meditate on that ya'll! Being uncertain about 1's spiritual path or not clinging 2 a specific religious doctrine or path does NOT mean U are not aware or connected to the truth. Remember there R wars 2day because of this world truth. As 4 Prince & his version of the TRUTH, none of us has 2 accept it. Even those of us who do not, or happen 2 not b Christians, still accept Prince's ever-increasing musical coersion of his spritual views on others. 4 what it's worth, I've been listening 2 Prince since 1983 ya'll, when I was in 5th grade.

Prince turned over Paisley Park to be managed by the JW's when he headed out to CA. Once he was hitting it big with Musicology he stopped inviting his faithful fans for jams and planned celebrations at the Park. He moved the music West and started playing with stars. There's a site and it offers space at Paisley Park to record videos or music for a fee. I suppose that someday he could get tired of the Hollywood scene and bring back the funk to the place that's in our hearts. [Edited 8/16/05 4:23am]

The Anna Stesia portion of the Lovesexy tour delved VERY deep into the Jesus message. Also, during the 2nd half/Redemption portion of the show Prince used very overt religious messages. The Purple Rain concerts featured overt Christian messages as well. That's why I scoff at threads like these, the content is the same but now that he's a JW people get all huffy.
