Prince's BEST jam... "I Wanna Be--long version" Is there anything funkier than the extended jam at the end of "I Wanna Be Your Lover?" ______________________________________________

Man I LOOOOOVE that jam. The whole nearly 6 minutes is just pure funk ecstasy for me. One of my favorite Prince songs. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Prince was definately ahead of his time with this one. This was the disco era and I hear traces of that "Minneapolis Sound" even before there was such a thing. Andy is a four letter word.

U beat me to it, player. Good thing I read before I posted! Yeah, that WHOLE concert is the shit. But yeah, they go OFF on this version, which destroys the long version. I have that on tape - think I might pull it out tonight - that was the jam!!! IMO, Dez and Prince had a chemistry - like Mick and Keef, Steve and Joe - that P never had with any of the guitarists since Dez left. Also, check out the "Lady Cabdriver" live jam - that's another killer w/P and Dez (especially Dez) doin' it on guitar!!! My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

Yup,I agree 100% on this one,I even change my hairstyle to match his ,only thing that piss me off was that this song only reached #11 on Billboard top 100.

Yeah that sucks but it was still a hit for him and thank God because it was the beginning of many more hit singles to come. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

And to think that this song started the whole Prince vs. Mike Jackson who is better feud between a Jacko fan and me

While Dez came off like he was a BONAFIDE band member, everyone elsa in that position, except for maybe Wendy, just came across as a hired gun. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Plus, I always got the sense that Dez was just as accomplished as P on guitar. It always seemed like they were equals when it came to guitar playing. With Wendy, it always seemed more like teacher/student. My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

On the purple Rain tour Wendy seemed to out play prince all the time. I guess that why he would push her head into his groin area. [Edited 8/16/05 7:28am]

[Edited 8/16/05 7:28am] Were you perhaps, inebriated/stoned in any way when you witnessed Wendy "outplaying Prince all the time"? Just curious My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

Dez does not get the credit he deserves, dude was one hell of a guitarist and one of the few that was on Prince's level during their time together. I have multiple live shows with Dez and his playing contiunes to astound. Best lead guitarist Prince ever had. Miko Weaver is another grossly underrated player. Dude's work during the SOTT/Lovesexy tours is amazing and his rhythm work on Mountains takes that song to another level. Wendy was very good too, but I didn't start feeling her live work until the Parade tour. She just didn't have IT during the Purple Rain Tour IMHO.

I've NEVER seen Wendy out play Prince. Especially during the Purple Rain Tour, she was average at best. I hope that was a joke.

I have at least 4 Purple Rain shows where Wendy screws up the guitar solo in When Doves Cry.

Imagine what Dez would've done with that solo... My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

Lot of folks just don't know, that's all it is to it. Dez looked the most 'professional" out of everyone on stage. His lead playing on "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad" was TIGHTER than P's. At this time, as a lead guitarist, Dez's playing was more polished where Prince's playing would at times, be somewhat sloppy. I don't think Dez can hold a candle to P's playing now, but from 78-83, Dez was already where P would end up. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. One thing prince always had over Dez is that he never went around sporting a japanese head band. Atleast Prince never dressed like a fool.
