Do Ya'll Think Sinead had a right 2 get upset with Prince?

I can understand why she might feel a bit vexed over Nothing Compares 2 U. I even heard she's dissed him numerous times, even LIVE. But other's, I think Mazarati, covered the song b 4 she did. So, she shouldn't trip.

I'm not sure anyone ever got the whole story on this, even if there was a story to be told?? The Family released the original version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" [the best version, imo] with Paul Peterson practically matching Prince's vocals from the demo, and Eric Leeds playing a mad sax solo. Supposedly Prince was upset that Sinead made some small changes to the lyrics? Or maybe he got upset when she didn't bow and kiss his feet when he granted her permission to release her own arrangement of the song?? Not sure.

man, i'm sounding bitter lately... hmm.

2 b honest, I don't really know. I do remember reading in the 90's, how right before she performed the song somewhere, she referred to him as "that little" something, and the audience laughed.

All I know is he said something like "she needs 2 b a lady and wear a damn dress" or something.

and then Prince used an onscreen Sinead look-alike to introduce some his videos and performances, all Max Headroom like
an inside joke? was he getting back at her? or making some kind of statement?
I had read some awful comments she had made about him and how he was violent toward her... what up with that??

I doubt that Nothing Compares 2 U got him out of financial trouble. Was he financial trouble in 1991? I don't think so? Thanks for the post

... called Sean-Nós Nua, "Sean-Nós" being a traditional Irish style of singing and "Nua" meaning new. All the songs are tradtional Irish songs with English lyrics (English has been a common language in Ireland for a long time, so not all of our traditional songs are written in Irish), with the exception of "Óró, Sé Do Bheatha ‘Bhaile" and "Báidín Fheilimí" - which are quite obviously in Irish.

And it's not boring!! - I guess it helps that I've known all these songs all my life, although that's not always a good thing - I could quite cheerfully strangle anybody who sings that fucking Molly Malone song.

Her renditions of Peggy Gordon and The Parting Glass are beautiful - they make the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

She's still around - she released a new album "Collaborations" in May of this year. She describes it as a ragga album, and as the name might suggest, she collaborates on all the tracks with various people including U2, Jah Wobble, Asian Dub Foundation, Massive Attack and Peterl Gabriel. I've no idea what it's like as I haven't got around to getting it yet.

Boring indeed. Hrmph.! biggrin
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
