Does Prince use the "n" word anymore?

Since Prince has made a concious effort not to swear anymore I'm wondering if has elminated using the "n" word too? Since it is not really a swear word but it is a racial slur? In the mid ninties I noticed he was using it alot like in songs like "P. Control" and "18 & Over".

It's a racial slur? Really?

The last time I can think of that Prince performed a song with the "N" word in it's original lyric was Don't Play Me from the last Celebration week.He replaced it with "brothers".

Maybe we'll hear 2 Bro's United 4 West Compton someday:lol:

What a hypocrite. Considering there was a time when every other word out of his mouth was the N word. It's the same deal with criticizing younger artists who use sex to bring attention to themselves. It seems that what's good enough for Prince is too good for everybody else. neutral

afterthough edit: not saying he SHOULD be using the word, but that he shouldn't criticize others for doing the same damn things he used to.

My thoughts exactly. He's just getting older, I think. It's like when he complaints about today's radio: "if it was good then, it's still good". He's right about that, but there is some enjoyable music today that is not his.

y'know it IS a bit hypcritical, but i do agree with u both. i mean laura ur right. NOONE should be using racial slurs, but @ the same time prince knew the word was negative. theres no way, especially as a blk man, that he could NOT have known. thats why i think its hypocritical for him to be tellin someone else not to use the word. prince hisself knew the word and what came with it, hell he was a 30some odd yr old man when he started using it, he KNEW. but prince stopped using it when HE saw fit. not because he came up on some knowledge or whatever. so yea thats hypocritical, although i don't agree with use of that word ATALL, who is he to be telling someone else not to use it? if he doesn't want to anymore, fine, more power to him. but don't go tellin someone else not to use it, just because prince in his own mind finally relized that its not ok. or whatever realization he came to.

same with the whole sex issue.

This argument makes no sense. Just because someone used to do something wrong means that they can no longer inform others that it's wrong?
If that were the case, would parents be able to give their children any guidance at all? Would recovering drug addicts be able to counsel others regarding the dangers of substance abuse? Regardless of what a person used to do, the fact of the matter is that it's in the past. A person is not a hypocrite if they're no longer participating in that activity. The truth is still the truth, and it doesn't make Prince a hypocrite to make others aware of it. In fact, who better to inform others than someone who used to do it and knows the damage that it causes?

The hell he shouldn't. He is not a hypocrite for telling them not to do those things. Just because he did them before doesn't necessarily mean they were good and he realizes now that some of the things he did were unnecessary and he's telling these up and coming artists not to do them because that's what he truly believes. He's letting them know they can be successful without those things or at least using them at a minimum. Just like when parents tell their kids not to smoke weed because of the bad things it could lead to even thought they smoked weed and turned out just fine. Just because they did it and nothing happened doesn't mean it's a good idea for the kids to do it

Dude is human just like anybody else. You grow up and you change. After all P has said he was not always the most mature person and I think using racial slurs and foul language showed us all that he was not mature.

I have the feeling all this non-swearing is going to create a backlash, and Prince's next CD will be worse then anything 2 Live Crew put out.

F* Martinez will seem like child's play next to Prince's new songs.
