Did Prince Write a song for Joni Mitchell? I vaguely remember hearing that there was a track on "Chalk Mark in a Rainstorm" written by him. My name is Prince and I want your money

i don't really think so. Per Nilsen mentions that it is recorded on Octbober 16th 1986 at Sunset Sound and quotes engineer Susan Rogers: 'i love that song! it was always one of my favourites. it has a beautiful, descriptive lyric. the song starts out, "last night i was lonely not just for anyone, last night i wanted you. stars outside my window, counted everyone, counting just for fun, counting two thousand and two." he ended up not giving it to anybody or using it. shame! because it was great.' Joni Mitchell didn't think the song was suiting her style and commented on it later: 'i called him up and said, "i can't sing this." he's a strange little duck, but i like him.' i love my THE VAULT book! yes SIR!
