While My Guitar Gently Weeps

I was just listening to George's original version on my Beatles cd and then I

was remembering the performance by P and how he just killed it and made it look

easy but I was just thinking thats gotta be much harder to play than he made it

look doesn't it?

I read someone on another thread talking about how to play Purple Rain well it

sounds like this would be just as hard if not harder.

It sounds like it has a lot of changes in it.

Man listening to While My Guitar Gently Weeps really made me appreciate how good

George was.

He could really play, even though he was one of the least talked about Beetles.

P just killed it and showed out at the RRHOF performance.

You have to be able to really play to just show out on a song like that!biggrin cool

Yep P is definitely amongst the guitar Gods.

George was great indeed , he made great Beatles' songs like
Something , Here Comes The Sun , and this , etc

It was a nice performance of P indeed nod

It's really not that hard to play...

Prince's solo sounded, in places, very inspired though.

It is a very simple song to play though... a great tune though in my opinion

What you might be hearing on the original version might not be George playing. I thought that I remembered something about Eric Clapton playing lead on that track and he did in fact share some of the lead guitar duties. Check out the link for the personel involved in the original recording.

Let's not get it twisted, George was not that great of a guitar player, but he was an outstanding composer.

seriously dude - just go to google, type in "While my guitar gently weeps" and "chords" and "tab" and you'll get a shit load of tabs. That's all there is to it.

And it's way easier than Purple Rain, too. PR is a difficult song (if you're playing it faithfully) because of the last chord. It's a motherfucker.

Btw, learn the acoustic version of "While my guitar gently weeps", which is found on the Beatles' Anthology (you'll see it on loads of tabs). It's way prettier and more fun to play than the White Album version / electric version you heard Prince play in. Unless, of course, you have a whole band.

If you're on about Prince's solo specifically (RRHOF performance), then you can work that out yourself by watching it. As far as i know, it isn't tabbed out there as yet.

Well I don't know I just assumed it was George playing.

I don't know if it is the original or not but the only version I have is the

one on their blue discs set with certain years' songs cataloged.

Thanks! It was incredible!

I also heard that Prince played the opening act for the induction. Is this clip available anywhere, like NPGMC?

Yes an outstanding composer. He put a lot of effort into crafting the songs. Very quirky compositions at times. He had some interesting ideas and was beautifully influenced by Indian sitar music.

It looks like Clapton plays a Gibson Les Paul on While My Guitar Gently Weeps from The Beatles The White Album according to the link below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...ntly_Weeps

Clapton was astounding back then in the late sixties with Cream. It's a shame he didn't use his Gibson Les Paul at the recent Cream reunion. It would have made such a difference.

George and Eric's friendship is another interesting story, paricularly George's apparent indifference to Eric's affair with Patti Harrison.

I just noticed something about Prince's solo.

It appears as if his solo was not supposed to be that long, because on the video from www.georgeharrison.com, the audio is diff, and you can hear another solo in the background.

The second solo starts, and then he stops, and then he goes ahead and continues his solo.

I dunno, what yall think?

that solo floored me when i saw it on the rrhof special. i'm not a musician so i don't know any of the technical aspects of it, but i remember watching it that night and being so amazed and so proud to be a prince fan. after that solo it was as if there was no one left on the stage. everyone else just seemed so faded and half dead.

Thanx for the video...
Great performance by Prince, not extraordinary but great... wink

But If I have to choose I'd prefer the accoustic version, more beautiful and difficult to play...

I've posted a thread about that ...in the org community forum... 2 months ago...

http://www.prince.org/msg/15/151061

PS : listen very closely, you'll remark that the guy plays the bass, the lead and the rythm in the same time... Hellaaa difficult...

I've never really proclaimed Prince's solo at the RRHOF as much as others here, Its a good solo.but I've heard better Prince solos than it.

I play the guitar and found it reasonablly easy to play a similar solo to Prince's. I don't think you could ever emulate another guitarist solo. So many different factors which I wont bore you with.

But as others mentioned above his solo floored everyone who was on the same stage. I'm not suprised, the high he would've been on being inducted would have given him an energy to play all night.

One thing which struck was during his speech as he almost become teary eyed. I don't think Prince ever expected the honour, it showed a very human side which we raley see in cleberaties
