Pistol-shaped microphone

With Prince being such a spiritual and peace-loving person, and also considering all the terrorism and violence we are currently seeing in the world - don't you think it's strange that he still (in live performance) uses a microphone shaped like a pistol?

Not that it really bothers me that much, but I mean, what's the symbolism? What's that supposed to mean, really?

In the late 90's Prince had an onlie Q & A session with his fans on his then website, love4oneanother.com. The question about the violent symbolism of the gun microphone was raised.\

Prince's reply was a typical Prince answer to the effect that the words of peace and love he sings into his pistol/microphone nullify it's violent design and turn it into a weapon of funk and all that is lovesexy.

I didn't think he used it anymore either, but then I saw footage from Madison Square Garden on the Musicology tour.

It doesn't go on tour with him anymore. He can't get it past airport security.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

nah..he just likes that he can limp his wrist while singing with it...i swear thats the impression ive always had about it...the way he would sway his wrist with it....he can pull off more "bitch" then with a regular mic...

and if he said that instead of that horrid "nullified" answer we'd all be cool with it..

wink

NULLIFIED! Exactly-- I remeber specifically he used that word in the answer. So funny, so Prince.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
