Chappelle's Prince video

Hi all! I'm new to this site and I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm sure some of you are familiar with Dave Chappelle's Prince impersonation in "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories." I've been going nuts trying to find out what Prince tune is played while they were all sitting in the living room at Prince's house. Does anyone know? It sounds like the same one played throughout most of the basketball game as well. For those of you who might be able to help me, here's the link:

Thanks for your help!

I don't think it was an actual Prince somg but rather just a little Prince-like jam. Pretty funky though.

None of the tracks in that skit are real Prince songs. Just sound alikes using Linn sounds. (Let's Go Crazy, DMSR, Little Red C.)

It's quite crass if you think about it. They want to make money out of poking fun at Prince (albeit rather lovingly I admit), but are not willing to pay up for the rights to use his real songs. confused

Could it be that Prince wouldn't allow the songs to be used for the show??

The Rick James one is classic.

"Im Rick James bitch!!!"

"What did the five fingers say to the face?.....SLAP"

Charles Murphys face is a picture after that.

"what can i say? Cocaine is a hell of a drug"

falloff
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

Damn! I was hoping the tunes were real - it's a great beat. Actually, I thought Prince's reaction to the clip was not negative. I believe he said "well, it wasn't quite like that."

hmmm Interesting. I'm probably sure that Murphy embellished alittle bit for the entertainment factor and thats cool. That's probably why P took it like nothing.

The funniest part was when Prince/Dave shook Charlie and Prince/Dave made that lay up. That was the best part I think. That shit was funny as hell.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I like this one better than Rick James (that one is great too). You've got to love it- "you guys want some grapes?.....bitches!"

It's common practice that they always make their own background music for shows like these. It would always cost too much / narrow the profit margin to use non-original music on these cases. Aaron Spelling shows have one hit song per episode on them that is to attract viewers. Other than that, they have to come up with their own music.

True, BUT unfortunately tha Rick James one would also set people's expectations for Chappelle's 3rd season pretty high...which would resort to Dave Chappelle wanting away from it all cause the pressure was on him. But this is something every entertainer goes through. Dave shouldnt have thrown in the towel like that. And didn't Comedy Central paid him like $25 million too?
