I just love this song. Prince and Clare at their best!!

I agree! One of my ten favorite Prince songs. When my local station premiered it I quickly taped it off the radio (remember doing that?) and listened to it all day. Play-rewind, play-rewind. It's still one of my most played Prince tunes to this day.

i didn't like this song for the longest time, then one day i listened to it and it just slapped me in the head and i "got" it. now it's one of my faves. gorgeous stuff.

Its nice. With a for once restrained guitar solo. I have no idea when the song was written, but it cant be 1993 (when the hits was dropped).

This my top 10 favorite Prince song, the shit is hot. I had 2 apply 2 this thread. I love the song and the lyrics. Is a musical masterpiece 2 my mind and ears. 1 of Prince's hottest ballad's and tracks. It's a beast baby.

This song sounds so honest, I remember feeling really happy for Prince when I first heard it. To this day, I stop whatever I'm doing to join the backups on that line in the second verse: "I am not alone".

sob story coming on. this single was released on my mother's birthday, so i bought her a copy. we listened to it, and she began to cry. i knew it was a beautiful song, but tears ? she told me on that day she was dying. that Christmas Eve, she died. as much as i love that song, i can't listen to it as much as i'd like to. i do listen to it on my birthday, though. it makes me feel like Mom is here with me, you know.....helping me get through.

This is one of his finest ballads. It shimmers with a kind beauty that only his best songs do. It reminds me of When We're Dancing Close & Slow, but is, I think far better. I love the guitar climax towards the end. I think it gets lost on the hits. It deserved a place on a proper studio album.
