Challenge: Compare Your Age Now to What Was

Here is a new "challenge."

From what I remember from a site survey a while ago, many of us exist in the 20-44 age bracket.

That said...

Take the age you are now (i.e., I am now 25 will be 26) and listen to the album(s) that Prince made when HE was that age.

For myself:

When Prince was 25/26, the year was 1982 and 1983. During this time, Prince had released 1999, What Time is It?, Vanity 6, The Glamorous Life, and was working on Purple Rain, Appolonia 6, Ice Cream Castles, and Romance 1600.

In my life, I feel that I am at a point where I am able to absorb ALOT of information and churn out product based on that knowledge (I'm working on Computer certifications and am helping in design and deploy networks/desktops/etc). In this same way, I see Prince doing the same.

The way the music speaks to me is different. I am all about the hard funk on What Time is It?, for example, but I just listened to _Purple Rain_ the whole way through and I am remembering how outstanding it is as an album.

Erotic City is now back in heavy rotation, as is 777-9311.

Of course, I am still listening to tons of other older music. I've just re-discovered the magic of The Miseducation of Lauren Hill and my Natalie Merchant collection, for example, and I'm really diggin on good ol rock and roll of the 70's and early 80's. Hell, I'm even on a The Cars kick. And I've been listening to a lot of Tejano and other Latin music lately.

Bah...I'm starting to babble. You guys get the drift. Grab the album and see if you identify with where Prince was at that time in his life. smile

- Have fun!

Well, when we were the same age, he was doing Sign O' The Times stuff. I guess I can identify more now than at the time with what was on that album, and in addition to that, I think I can identify with his most recent releases more than any of his previous stuff. Not necessarily cos of what he is saying and agreeing with it all, but cos of the feeling in his music today.

If you're older, then I guess you pick a year in your past and go for it. smile Then kick back, have a scotch, and do what all elders are to do: reflect, share stories, and enlighten. smile

Or post nude photos of yourself. Either way it's a win-win situation... wink
