PRINCE AND USHER Has anyone ever heard Usher say anything about Prince? I remembered at the NAACP awards Usher said "even Prince" at the end of his thank you's. It might have been due to the night belonging to Prince. Anyway just curious if you've heard anything. PEACE ~ PRIME

Usher says to Jet magazine: I guess giving the award to Prince was suppose to be for shock value, but I was cool with it cuz I'm a Prince fan. Awards don't excite me like it does for other artist, just look at the Billboards that's my awards right there.

Thanks lilquish- When was this? He must have been talking about the grammy's(?) - at first he say's he's a fan and then he throws salt on Prince. I think Usher is alright but has anyone notice all the h$*d he gives Michael Jackson???....it's so annoying but wow he say's he's a Prince fan.

Why shock value?????  The fact that he is nominated along side Prince is the real shock.

Usher sucks.
Sorry ya'll..the guy is over-rated, over-praised, over-paid, and his ego is over the top. I'd rather have a performer who is eccentric (Prince, Michael Jackson) than someone who thinks they are the sh*t. Usher might have a billboard award and might be on top the world for a few more years, but people like Prince and Michael Jackson have been around for decades. This guy is a copycat of Michael Jackson and copycats aren't remembered for decades. You'll catch this "superstar" at the county fair in a decade. haha [Edited 7/17/05 19:26pm] | |

I do know that Usher stood next 2 me at one of the Garden shows last year in NYC and was a dancin' fool...I turned 2 him and said study that man!

He can't sing or dance THAT well.. He's just another example of the Hollywood machine. Whomever they want to promote, they will annd the American public is too stupid to make decisions of their own as too who they like. Usher and Prince shouldn't even be used in the same sentence! | |

Other than dancing, or mimicking MJ, what is his talent exactly??? Oh, hiring good producers of music, I guess. I'm SO glad to be in the company of others who also see that this guy is not real. Come on! I am not an Usher fan, but honestly he is not disrespecting Prince. He said "Other artist" he didn't said Prince. Assuming he just said he was a Prince fan he was probably thinking about someone else as he knows Prince "does not wanna be a poet cut he doesn't want toblow it, he does not care to win awards".
Then the sentance "Look at the billboard chart, here is my award" is almost a a Prince quote.  | |

I know Prince doesn't care about awards but deep down he really does. That is why he was mad at Clive Davis "he promised me a hit." We all have seen the trophy cases. We all say we don't care about this or that but he's human and he likes to be appricated other wise he would have never attended any award shows ever. I felt good when I saw Prince going across the screen wining two grammys.
