Prince songs that should of been number one

Pick 5 prince songs (no bootleg songs) that were never released as a single. Choose the ones you think would of went to number one on the billboard charts if just given a chance.

"Paisley Park"
"It"
"Girls And Boys"
"Lovesexy"
"The Future"

I think that "Paisley Park" and "Girls and Boys" were released as singles outside the States, but I think those songs would have been HUGE hit singles here in America.

Pink Cashmere was released as the first single from The Hits/Bsides. Peaked around #50 on the Hot100. Shame , cuz it's his of his best. That was at about the time of the whole name change / Warner Bros war was getting underway.

my five....

Baby I'm A Star
Lovesexy
Strange Relationship
Blue Light

"When U Were Mine"
"D.M.S.R."
"17 Days"
"The Beautiful Ones"
"Housequake"

I included "17 Days" when you factor in the success of "Erotic City" as a B-side. eek

Eye Hate U should have been number one, but the talking, rock element of the second half of the song freaked listeners off, I'd think. Too bad, since the song is so classic.

Ummmm people the subject of the topic is...

"Pick 5 prince songs (no bootleg songs) that were never released as a single. Choose the ones you think would of went to number one on the billboard charts if just given a chance."

Most of you keep including songs on your list that WERE INDEED released as singles including (just reading back over post prior to mine and after the last person mentioned this)
Sexy Dancer
Let's Work
Girls & Boys
Yo Mister
If I was Ur Girlfriend
Pink Cashmere
Eye Hate U
1999
Sign o' the times
Controversy
Cream

and I'm sure I missed some

My five unreleased are (I'm only listing actual album cuts.. no b-side onlys)
1) A Million Days (Musicology)
2) Strange Relationship (Sign o' The Times)
3) House Quake (Sign o' The Times) although technically it was released but wasn't the billed release..it was the B-side to 'U Got The Look'
4) Adore (Sign o' The Times)
5) Electric Chair (Batman)

I picked these not only because I liked them.. but at the time they would have been released... they had the 'commercial' appeal to capitalize on Prince's public highs at the time. I think they were major missed oportunity. with 10 choices I'ld have thrown in some stuff from The Gold Experience and Lovesexy as well.
