What a great concert if u could go back in time, the famous First Avenue show where he 1st played Let's Go Crazy. Computer Blue, I Would Die 4 U, Baby I'm A Star, Purple Rain, and Electric Intercouse, not 2 mention great versions of When U Were Mine, and A Case Of You, anybody here who was actually there.

You're absolutely right. I have forgotten all about it until I saw this post. I always knew that was a benchmark show Prince & The Revolution. I might go back and listen to "Electric Intercourse" and "A Case of You" now that you mention it.

So electric intercourse is a purple rain outtake eh?

I've seen the tape of it and it truly was an incredible performance. Prince was in the zone for sure. Let's not forget he did Automatic and DMSR and they were soooo amazing too.

Man I just finished listening to electric intercourse and it is tight!!

Its hard to say and even harder to believe but I believe he could've made what is already a great album (Purple Reign of course) an even greater album if he had put this on there. HAWT!!

I think it would've been better than Take Me with U.

Take me with you to this day is the only song on that album I sorta get a frown on my face when it comes on. Sure Apollonia was fine but could she sing.....
ehhhh not good enough to be on that track on that album.

I think that could've been a great song if she wasn't on there dragging the vocals down. Anyhow back to electric intercourse; anyone know what he replace it with?

he was doing most of the Purple Rain songs, and the audience was silent because it was there first time hearing them.

its a bit strange seeing this concert after lovesexy and purple rain released vhs in 85. he seems very honest in his projection of the songs and there doesnt seem to be any arrogance in his attitude. i was surprised by the lack of vocal interaction with the audience (computer blue drags without it).

in contrast to the 85 purple rain video, where that appears to have too much stop/start and not playing hardly song in full, it is refreshing to hear. probably because they were performing the songs for the first time.

he seemed to relax more with the 1999 album songs (maybe through months of gigging them) and electric intercourse was a very welcome surprise. purple rain was amazing hearing it in full, and how they got wendy guitars to sound in tune on the record is a mystery.

Electric Intercourse is definitley a fave of mine

For me, the highlights of that show are 'A Case of You' (he's still not bettered that particular version in my eyes, it's so subtle,
and a great vocal delivery) 'Purple Rain' - amazing to hear that vocal take in it's entirety, and the funky and funny 'DMSR'.
