Musicology ? the album that proves he's lost it...how can he sleep at night knowing it is his worst album and yet has performed so well.....sad sad sad

He sleeps well just like many other artist who have put out music that is worst then anything that Prince has done.

It's not that bad it's just a little underwhelming. Call My Name and Reflection are both great songs and rank up there with anything he's done. The only songs that really don't cut it with me are Musicology and Life O' The Party. You can't do "U" rated funk, it simply isn't possible and both those songs are complete and utter fluff. The rest of the album is at least average. I just think the whole package is a little too modest for it's own good. I much prefer it to The Rainbow Children though as at least it's accessible.

I also love Musicology but i do tend to skip LOTP ,which imho, is the albums weakest track.

personally I dont think that Musicology is a bad cd at all.

Musicology is not SOTT but neither is it NPS, and I wouldn't say it's "crap". There are at least four great songs and maybe two flops, the rest being nice but underwhelming. It was his best "mainstream" effort since the Gold Experience or perhaps Diamonds and Pearls.

It is not crap, but comparing it to what he can do, it is beneath his talent. Just basic soul and funk--nothing that eclectic or interesting or new.

I agree with you, to a point. Rave was dreadful, but it had a couple of moments, albeit when combined with the remix version. Musicology's lamer than a jellyfish - completely and utterly uninteresting. The ensuing tour was a snoozefest too.
