What happened between taja sevelle and Prince?

He does tracks off her first album and then nothing? Did taja grow tired of his constant blowjob demands?

Her second album is pop, but seems to have some weird kate bush aping tracks too. It was called "fountains free".

"even odd you" is a lovely little track.

Anyway, taja was fine. Those jeans razz

Prince contributed two songs to her 1987 debut album: "Wouldn't You Love To Me" and "If I Could Get Your Attention".Released on Paisley Park Records in 1988,the album featured three singles, but the project ultimately bombed.

She left the Prince camp and signed with Sony, releasing her second album 'Fountains Free' in 1990,if I'm not mistaken. There was no Prince involvement.Once again, the project bombed.

She stayed in touch with Prince, and even performed at the 1st Celebration at Paisley Park.

bombed is a strong word. Compared to the rest of the output from Paisley Park. Taja's album was a smash. "Love is Contagious" was a hit here in the US and in the UK. (in fact Badly Drawn Boy was sued for briefly using the lyrics without permission. he simply took it out of the song.)

THe album was as solid as Jill Jones's. "how could you do me so bad" is a great track as well. Im suprised someone like Mariah hasnt covered it. Maybe the "do-wop" feel is a little dated.

My one question is who the hell was "Bennett"????

Taja's album received more promotional attention than most Paisley Park releases (3 singles were released, and there were videos for each one,all shown on BET),but it's a stretch to call her album a success.None of the three singles ("Love Is Contagious","Wouldn't You Love To Love Me" and "Popular") received airplay in my area, and I don't think they charted at all.

Bennett was her boyfriend at the time. Many people assumed that this was just another one of Prince's disguises (like "Jamie Starr"),to hide the fact that he produced her album. But Bennett really exists, and he really did produce most of her album.

Love is Contagious was a top 10 in the UK and got plenty of airplay here in NYC. I dont remeber where it peaked tho. Relative to PP releases, this probably was the one of the bigger sellers outside of Prince and Sheila E, but you are right, not what WB was expecting. Jill Jones probably sold more as Mia Bocca (MTV) and G-Spot (radio) did well.

Shame about Bennett. Some of those songs were hot. (How could you do me). He probably would have been better off not working with Prince.

I really like the song "Popular".Out of the three singles released from her album,I think this song is the best.
