Computer Blue - extended hallway mix

Back a few days to weeks ago we had a discussion on the long unreleased version of computer blue and we were talking about the hallway mix. I guess its been too long ago because its not all the way back to 7 and I can't search for it so I was just asking whoever it was that put up the lyrics to the extended part could you please repost them. I think I may have a lead on a copy but I want to be sure i'm getting the right one. Thanks.

BTW, even though the search function on the site is down, you can search the site with Google with pretty decent results.

After the term you want to search for add site:prince.org and hit Search. Google will then only return results from the org smile

There are like FOUR different Computer Blue versions.
There is a demo version and three different mixes of the album version, all of them waaay longer than the actual album version.

Computer Blue demo (13:59) has different instrumentation and different vocals/lyrics.
Computer Blue hallway speech version (11:57) is basically the version he wanted to put in Purple Rain until he recorded other songs (like When Doves Cry)
Computer Blue without hallway speech (12:27)is the same as the previous, except it has no speech.
The fourth Computer Blue (7:33) is an edit of the third, halwayspeech-less version.

Sigh

He didn't like living alone
The house where he lived had many hallways
It was a long walk 2 his bedroom
Because 2 him each hallway represented an emotion
Every one vastly different from the next
One day while she was with him
He decided 2 name each one
She walked by his side, one hand on his thigh
No - she was sort of half a step behind him
Yeah, the grip on his thigh intensified
As they walked slowly through the corridor
He named the hallway "Lust"
And as they passed through the next one
He named it "Fear"
The grip she now loosened
So he walked faster
Her hands now trembling
She let dropped 2 her side as he wrote the word "Insecurity"
He looked into her eyes and smiled a demon smile
And quickly walked onto the next
Corridor after corridor
He named almost all when suddenly… he stopped
He picked up the word "Hate"
She was gone
So he picked up another – "Pain"

I downloaded the extended "hallway" version from Limewire and my mind was completely blown. Did humans actually compose and perform that? omg

Hands down one of his most brilliant works ever. Shame that vinyls couldn't run longer back in the day-- "Purple Rain"'s fame and standalone genius would have gone even more through the roof.

Ahhhh...i remember when I first heard the song too. I was so taken aback and felt somewhat cheated that that version didn't make it's way into the original soundtrack. What a shame when you hear the officially released version after hearing the hallway speech version.

BTW, does anyone know the compilation that has the best sounding version of the Hallway Speech Computer Blue? I think it's on one of the latter "The Work" volumes, but not sure.

Revelations 2.1 got all versions ...
the first demo is the greatest.

The Work volume 2 only got one version (Computer Blue hallway speech version (11:58))
the fan release Volume 7 got two versions (Computer Blue demo (12:30) and Computer Blue hallway speech version (12:07))

I just finally heard one of the extended hallway versions of computer blue all the way through and all I can say is eek eek eek DAMN!!

I love the one on the album but this one.....geez its everything I sorta thought I may have heard somewhere sometime before and more.

Its got it all. The hallway speech, the extra guitar killing solos, the wendy and lisa parts extended and all the father father and the dawn speech parts and the feeling's mutual stuff I thought I remembered hearing before!

WOW! Lil' dude was kicking out so much great stuff in the 80s and I bet mostly at least half of it was unreleased!! As good as a lot of his stuff was we still have stuff like this and electric intercourse laying around unreleased!

WOW!!

The album version of this like I said is great but this is greater.

The version I found is only 11:34 and some of you are saying there are even longer ones;hard to imagine him fitting more into those than he even did on this one.

I can see why he released the one he did though as Warner would've had a fit it he would've tried to included any of the 11+ minute versions.

I have'nt come accross many unreleased tracks or versions of tracks but this would have to be in my top 5 or 6 that I have heard.

The version I have sounds similar to the one on the album till you get to the extended parts so it makes me wonder if the album version is just an edit or did he totally rework it on the other versions?

I am sure he wanted to put the extended version on the album, up until he recorded When Doves Cry and needed the space...

I always heard it was Take Me With U that forced him to have to shorten it. That really pisses me off, cuz Take Me With U sucks so hard. Now if he had to edit it down to make room for When Doves Cry, that's a different story all together. I still would have loved a 12 inch of it tho.

I thought it was When Doves Cry, but as you might know; I am no BorisFishpaw.

I kinda like the album version of Take Me With U. It is a classic poptune. Prince at least thinks so, as it is one of the songs he plays still up to this day...
