So, perhaps a bizarre connection... As I was watching the cheesy video for Oran' Juice Jones' "The Rain" the other day on VH1 Classic, I thought to myself, this beat and obviously the spoken word part of the song remind me of "Bob George"... Certainly not the content so much, but the overall sound of that portion of the song made me think of BG.

Wasn't this song released prior to The Black Album's intended release date? Could BG have been a parody of this song to some extent? I mean, The Rain was pretty big for a time as I recall -- big enough to inspire a "response" version from a female rapper about a year later.

Obviously can't get in Prince's mind, but any thoughts from the masses on this?

Hmmm. I never really did think of the correlation of those two songs before.I don't think that neither song was particularly inspired by the other.I suppose it is a possibility.I do know that old school rapper K'Wamme used the music to Bob George on some song of his years ago.
