What makes you so sure she thinks anything about him?

They don't interact as far as we know, so why would he factor in her thoughts?

She's gone on record several times about him and has never expressed anything but the utmost respect 4 Prince.

I probably should've made clear I was talking present tense.

They've worked together, and more, so clearly they have respect each other, no reason to doubt that.

They haven't had any dealings for years (as far as I recall), so no reason she thinks anything of him, at present.

What she made of the "Open Letter" would be kinda interesting to know, but that was years ago, and she may not have even heard about it or read it any ways since it was only a rant on his little fansite at the time.

They've worked together and some believe they've slept together. Make of that what you will.

I've seen a picture of Madonna, her man, Mayte and Prince sitting at a table together in 1999/2000 Rave era. In the photo Prince and Madonna was laughing.

there's an interview that was posted onthis site where madonna goes into detail about everything she has worked on with prince and her impression of him. and they supposedly dated briefly in '85 or so... maybe for publicity.

There was a VH1 special that aired in the mid 90s that was staged as a Madonna special where they try 2 show her videos, but Prince and the NPG keep cutting in. It starts out with Madonna's "I Want You" video, and then there's a quick cut 2 Prince in another studio watching the video and he sighs and says "How much longer?" Next thing u know, someone is hot-wiring something in back of the room and the NPG video "The Good Life" comes on the screen and he says "It's working!"

From that point on, the show continues as Prince constantly interrupting VH1's Madonna special, and in the end, it's all Prince/NPG/Mayte videos airing. I thought this was funny as hell. Whether or not this was intended as some type of message 2 Madonna we may never know - personally I think he was having a little fun.

I love that as well. That eye roll and sigh when he sees her on screen is classic.

Not only that, but, also Under The Cherry Moon. She wanted to do that, but, she was filming that flick with her then husband, Sean Penn. There was talk of Madonna and P having a fling during 84. At one of the Purple Rain shows I attended at The Forum, Madonna came out on stage during "Baby, I'm A Star". In a Rolling Stone interview during "Like A Prayer" (which P has an unreleased version of) Madonna speaks quite a bit about P, saying he can read her mind. They wanted to do a broadway play together. Back in 85, it was out that P and M were to do a movie titled "The Prince of Darkness'. It was rumored to be about the occult and Aleister Crowley's The Golden Dawn. Hmmm...The Dawn. Now, I wonder where did P get that from?

Here are some things that Madonna has said about Prince throughout the years:

***"Why aren't critics letting sexuality stand in the way of appreciating Prince's music? He was certainly just as sexually provocative,if not more than I was.I wasn't talking about giving head.He was more specific than I was".

***"I think Prince lives a very isolated life and I don't,and that is the big difference between us.And I just try to be a positive influence on him.I've always been a fan.I think that he's incredible. He's very courageous and he causes lots of controversy too which is great and I think he is a brilliant musician. We've gotten together a couple of times in the hope of working with each other in some way.Originally we were going to do a musical together and we were going to write the music for it--that didn't really pan out..

***"He came to see me in the play I did last summer (Speed The Plow) in New York and he,just for the hell of it,put together a tape of some rough things that we'd done in all the meetings we had."Love Song" was one of the songs and I just said "You know, this is crazy,it's such a great song--why not put it on the record?".It seemed to relate to all the other songs because it's about a relationship that's a love/hate relationship. So he agreed to it and we kind of sent the tapes back and forth to each other, and we'd keep building it.It was like he would write a sentence and I would add on to it and then send it back to him and he would continue the story, basically. It was fun.I played the keyboards myself,it kind of came out strange and interesting".

I always got the impression that Madonna admired Prince because controversy became her middle name also. She used the same formula Prince did, sex and controversy, and it made her a huge star. She did have the good sense to turn down the role in "Graffiti Bridge". She knew shit when she saw it. lol
