Well, i know,many critics didn´t like this movie.. but some of them loved it. like Rolling stone magazine... and myself.

ThE directing is good , the Music is ESSENTIAL. and by the way... 99% of the cast are musicians and they can act!!!!! i know that many prince fans complain about the acting.. hey why complain... ? if u watch a new movie from the 2003 or 2005 with Jennifer lopez.. or any modern "looking good""actor/actres, u can see that the cast in the "PURPLE RAIN" movie are so much better.....

Prince is good,, he´s not bad..... he even cries in this movie!...
appolonia is okej.. better then lopez!

I bought the Purple Rain DVD yesterday and I finally saw the movie!

And I still speechless! Both my friend and I were blown away by it!

It made me more fan than I am!

The movie is a masterpiece!

Some of the issues it deals R still controversial and the way some aspect were filmed made me get goosebumps! Especially the ones dealing with The Kid's family and his relationship with Apollonia!

Another thing I have 2 add is that Apollonia is Hot!!!!

Also Lisa & Wendy r best lesbians I ever seen! "I'm not cast a dark cloud over your head! "

Guess I have now 2 go and purify myself on lake minnetonka!

The movie was great then and now. It was so head of it's time....the camara angles, the motorcycle, the music, the homlife, relationships and the rilvary.

Look at any movie that tries to do any of these now and it looks stupid. Any time I see a motorcycle in a movie I have to turn it off because it looks so stupid. JUST MY OPINION ~ PRIME

THE weird part about the movie is that Apples gets mad at Prince because he doesnt want her to drink. and Prince almost hits apples again but stops himself from doing so.

Anytime you see intoxication in his movies, it's always followed by a statement of sorts or a bad event, such as Ingrid Chavez being hit by that truck in Graffiti Bridge, though I wouldn't have called that bad--it afterall, did signall that the movie was almost over and the scene was funny as hell.

I loved the movie. I have it on 20th anniversary dvd!
The music was great and so was Prince...well he was off sometimes imo but he was still great.

If anyone has the chance look for the script Purple Rain was taken from titled Dreams.
In the original script his mother was an alcoholic and it hurt him to see women he loved in that way.
That is why he was about to hit Appolonia and he had to restrain himself.
The movie didn't stray too far from the script. It is a good read and it explains a lot.

Purple Rain was a very entertaining film. It still stands the test of time in 2005. I must say that terrific editing and good post-production tactics gave the film some quality. Even though most predicted it would fail, it blew up. The movie was comedic, dramatic, and sexual. It will always be one of my favorite movies of all time.

Also, I think the love scene was one of the most sensual love scenes in motion picture history.

P.S.: Hey Warner Brothers, we want the uncut version. NOW!!!!!

The film itself is actually pretty cheesy--bad acting, weak story line, sexist subplot, where the woman are treated like trash by the men, for their amusement.

Except for the stage scenes, the film as a whole is not very good. But, the shot of Appolonia's boobs will always be seared into my brain.

If it is so bad WHY is basically every music/rock/musicans movie a "blueprint" of it
