I believe it is by Inaya Day and it was #9 in the UK charts last week.

Originally released in Australia I believe earlier this year where it was a big club hit, and currently getting a lot of radio play in England too. I think it's a good contemporary version of it. Besides, always good to see peeps faces when they found out who wrote it.

If its that version they keep playing in my gym then i cant say im a fan. It sounds like the original version with a quicker dance beat behind it. Im not against people re-recording classics, but when it so unimaginative, i dont see the point. They also play this awful dance cover of Annie Lennox's beautiful "Why" in my gym. To say i cant reach for my ipod quick enough is an understatement.

this song has been huge in the UK, also Prince has been getting the mentions for writing it even though on the record it is credited as written by Vanity. Here's a question for the experts, as we all know it's a Prince penned track so would Warners have had to clear it with Prince 1st and also will he still get the royalties as it's played to death on National radio here.

It's dropped to 13 now in it's second week. Strange, with all the radio play it's been getting, I would have expected it to rise. It's been nice having a Prince-penned song in the charts. I wonder when the last one was? A fair while ago now I bet...

I don't remember that charting here at all. If it did, it was low, low, low and dropped out the next week for sure.

I believe to cover any song you don't need the composers permission.

Yeah it has been out in Australia for months, at the start of the year it was played constantly on the radio.. i love it.. although i do prefer Vanity's version.

Just heard some MP3 samples of this- kinda liked it, but wish she would've done something a bit more innovative with it!
Thanks for the heads up! Scarlette P. Nasty girls, dance, dance, DANCE!

Much like my threads! if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

Look for the A Love Bizarre follow-up, if you didn't see the same post by moi from earlier this year. [Edited 7/28/05 16:00pm]
