If Prince allowed someone else to produce his next album...

Prince has released over 20 albums since 1978...all written, performed, produced and arranged by himself.
So let say...if he decided to let someone else step in and produced his next album who would you want it to be?

I personally would call on Pharrell Williams!
Who would you want?

No-one who produces (c)rap or hip-hop/pop/urban acts that's for sure!

That rules out practically ANYTHING by a black act in the charts right now.

If Bowie produced his shows as well, we wouldn't have to put up with Mayte on stage shakin her bootie--we would've gotten Collin Ferrell. nod

I'd like to hear Prince do something with The Neptunes. A Beck collabo would be awesome, considering Prince is one of Beck's heros.

Co-sign. That would be one of the few people who could produce something for Prince. I honestly don't think anyone on the charts otherwise could really measure up. It would have to be someone on or above Prince's level...if that's possible. My 2 cents these people would make for interesting collaborations if Prince were to let someone else produce music for him.

Stevie Wonder
Carlos Santana
Babyface

Phuck Pharrell !!! I mean , I can get into some of his work - but damn , all it is is P's "Minneapolis Sound " over some hip-hop beats , which is fine - except I don't think I've ever heard him mention P as an influence , or even that he would like to work with him . Besides , a grown man shouldn't always dress like a 12-year-old skateboard kid ...

I seriously doubt that anyone but Prince will ever produce one of his albums. nod

He is too much his own person and in my view would dismiss anyone else's input!!

Potential outside Prince producer:- I don't like how the drums sound on that track...

Prince:- There is the door!! wave Byeeee!!!
if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

Who said it was?!

I simply don't think that Prince's music would benefit from those tired, flacid old beats and production values one finds on many hip-hop records.

As for the charts representing hip-hop, the charts only ever represent one thing, and it's no specific genre, it's the almighty dollar.

I like the fact Prince produces all his own albums, but if I had 2 pick somebody it would definately be The Neptunes, I like the rap trax they produce and I really like the non-rap trax they do like with Kelis, and their own N.E.R.D. projects and they even made Britney and Justin Timberlake listenable 4 a moment(2 me anyways with the songs they produced 4 them) and Chad Hugo's production on Kenna's album was great, Remember they wrote Frontin' 4 Prince but he never responded back, they also did a remix 4 The Greatest Romance Ever Sold and have said I'm A Slave 4 U was inspired by Nasty Girl.

All I'm gonna say is-this is one of my least favorite posts...and it shows up every other month (kinda like the lame MJ posts I have to endure on this board).

Anyway-always the same people: Beck, Bjork, some kid name drops some hot hip hop producer or those garbage neo soul boring R&B guys who rip off prince, the old guys name the arty rock guys (Bowie, lanois, etc). Can we never do this again

If he were still alive, I would have loved to have heard an Prince album produced by Frank Zappa! Of those still alive, I would choose Larry Blackman to produce a current Prince album.
