is prince really a commited jehovah witness???

we all have seen prince's picture from cow convention.
he was there for a study.
how deep is he into jehovah witness stuff?
i mean what is his priority, singing sexy music like shhh ,dmsr or
to worship jehovah .
i know people change, mature with age,but can somebody who (was) is ladies man, sexual freak realy become religios fanatic?
is it just a part of image?

on the one side there is larry and witness,on the other side are fans of his music which is by 80 % sexualy charged music with suggestive lyrics.

To attend a 3 day conference, he must be getting increasingly committed.

There was no sign of Larry or Mani for ages, I think people were beginning to think he was beginning a new phase (or returning to the Prince of old as some would have it) but this indicates the opposite.

I have no problem with him being committed to a faith; however I fear it will increasinly overflow into his music and that he will make music that is intentionally preachy. I much preferred it when he seemed to have a spirituality that was non-specific and reached out to everyone equally, and he could follow his impulses to create music without boundaries - an following the rules of a faith too strictly does create boundaries.

Music upto now has always been his number one interest, but it does appear that he's taken time-out to absorb himself in the Jehovah's Witness faith.

thebanishedone is refering to the Cow Palace,a huge arena in the Bay Area where Prince and Larry were spotted at a JW meeting.

I think Prince has always had a sense of Spirituality, appreciation for a higher power etc.
Despite what some might make of the the sexual aspect, i would generally describe
Prince's music as bright and positive , i really can't think of any negative messages in Prince's music. Other Artist's have used sexual lyrics in a far less classy or more vulgar...aggressive way than Prince ever has.
The difference I see with Prince's religious views now compared to before is that
in the past I think Prince believed in God and had a general sense of spirituality but it was less dominated by a specific doctrine, i mean he could of been described as a christian but in recent times he i think has specifically focused upon the ideas of the Jehovas Witness's . I guess its part of his own culture also, he grew up around that tradition & community even if he did not get right into it as much as a youngster it would of been familiar to him. Personally I think its fine for him to follow his religious beliefs but I dont know that he needs to verly promote them in albums and interviews all the time, i like the music on Rainbow Children but the overly religiose concept of it i found a bit much.
he needs to

biggrin It's a discussion forum, what did you expect ?

If people didn't offer their opinions it'd be a pretty fucking boring place.

That is not true . It just gets so tired going on and on about dude's religious belief. This comes up in almost all of the threads. Don't you guys get tired.
