Listening to Emancipation and Jammin'

lol I pulled out Emancipation album and said this sounds good! I was not sure if I like it when I first bought it. Prince can play all those instruments and he showcases his ability on this album. I love the way he plays the guiatar. I don't like the album cover picture it should have Prince's face, because I really like seeing his face instead of his hands. The inside of the album has better pictures though. Finally I said that does not matter its Prince!!! Check out these songs if you have this album, My favorites are: Somebody's Someday
Betcha By Golly Wow!
White Mansion
The Holy River
Emancipation music

God that album cover was sooooo cheesy. He was finially free like moses was or whatever shit Prince wanted to compare it too lol

I like them crisp drum programming chops by kirky J. But I know others onhere hate that sound, which is fair enough as it does sound poppy and not organic.

Fav songs

Mr happy (fav song off album)
holy river
saviour (cheesy as fuck but hey, Prince is in lurrrve, he can do diane warren ballads after all razz )
One kiss at a time
Slave
New world
Love we make
Emancipation (or mastibation)
da da da

I use to like "face down". But I've gone off it now

2 spares included for when you have guests! smile

Lack of Quality Control ruined it for me. Have my own version edited down to a single CD.

Snap

it's actually a fun album
we get to hear Prince try MANY different things
and getting very personal at times
for me, it's an album from a friend
he was very accessible at the time
and on the album, he is who he was then
i'm not sure we'll get that close to him again
it was a cool time, and he was in a good state of mind

My favorite songs are:

Jam Of The Year
Right Back In My Arms (Groovy bassline! )
Somebody's Somebody
Betcha By Golly WOW!
We Gets up
Sex in the Summer
One Kiss at a Time
The Holy River
My Computer
One of Us

If Prince had put these song's or something like these in one cd it would be a almost perfect album. Maybe I do my Best of Emanicipation cd someday.

But 3 cd's is better than 1 to a fan. More material = more fun.

You guys made me laugh. Thank you for that lol

I didn't really dig this album..(IMO) it had about 6 okay songs.

I thought most of it was filler.

I'd dig the Batman soundtrack over Emancipation anyday! headbang

This album did grow on me despite not really impressing on first listen, i think it was overhyped prior to release. 1st cd had majority of best tracks, 2nd cd was half as good as 1st, cd 3 wasnt as good but i liked "my computer" and i gotta admit i actually liked the rap on "DaDaDa"

other highlight songs...

big white mansion
in this bed i scream
1 kiss at a time
