"A Love Bizarre" its funky, but a little long, and I know it was on Sheilas album, but that is a Prince song

Some of ya'll think When Doves Cry, Purple Rain, Crystal Ball and Temptation are too long? That's just crazy talk.

I can tell u I hate it when radio stations play that shortened version of WDC, or worse yet, make their own mix of an edit--drives me crazy to this day. It's a slap in the face to deny potential new Prince fans the chance to enjoy Wendy's guitar solo and Prince's subsequent scream.

Purple Rain--it's just sacrelige (sp?) to want that song to be shortened. That'
s like making love to your mate, and after five minutes you say, "You know what, it's like too long. I like it and all, but I've had enough." When I go to see Prince in concert, I would feel like I didn't get my money's worth if he played Purple Rain and it was less than 10 minutes.

Crystal Ball is like the ultimate eerie but funky ride that just takes you all over the place throughout the song, with the strings guiding you through the whole psychadelic journey. Crystal Ball should only be listened to when you have the time to just let the funk take over.

Temptation--how long is that song? about 7 minutes with the dialogue at the end?
I can see how some people would be bored with hearing him talk to God after every listen, but the song itself is a masterpiece--the anguish of his struggle between love and lust, the guitar play throughout the song, and the screams...I gotta go listen to it now!

I'm just sayin' that when I'm with friends listening to the song I'm waiting for him to finish the "Ohh Ohh oHhh...whheeenn..doves cryy..Oohh Ohh!! ohh!" part AFTER the guitar solo. That doesn't mean I hate the tracks...I love listening to them fully alone..without my friends telling me to skip the track just 'cuz prince is doing his 'ohhs'

And I adore my crystal ball cd as much as the track.

I don't care if I'm alone or with friends, they have to deal with the full version of any Prince song we happen to be listening to, cuz I listen to their musical tastes that differ from my own.

My stepmom used to complain that Prince would just go on and on with whatever he's playing. I'd always say, that's what makes him so great. He actually gives more to listen to when it suits his fancy.
