Rave Un2 The Year 2000

I bought Rave un2 The year 2000 on DVD a couple of months ago, as I had not seen Prince in concert in any way shape or form before. And i want to hear from people who have watched the DVD and have also seen other concerts. Compared to other performances, would u say the concert is good bad or average?
Thanks!
oh my lord, where did i hear that one before?

I would say it's average. It has too many special guests, though there are some good moments.

This has been much edited down from the original concert from what I heard. In fact, I don't really think of it as a concert. It's more of a show.

i think it's way too choppy. i'm not a fan. i found a chinese import of it for five bucks that came in really funky packaging with a lyrics sheet, so i at least have a weird little collectable to enjoy. shrug

I love it, if only Prince was a bit younger and had a bit more energy it would have been AWESOME!

I'd give this DVD 2 points for a few good songs but the interviews left a lot to be desired. I also thought the guests dragged it down. (Yeah Lenny rocked the house but I would have rather heard Lenny jam with Prince on Prince tracks.)
Save the jam sessions of Lenny songs for bonus material. Good DVD I suppose but I think it missed it's mark. bored

It is the only Prince concert I don't watch and never want to see again,

If you haven't seen any others, you are in for such a treat. Try the SOTT, Lovesexy, Parade, or Purple Rain tours. I still watch them regularly 20 years on. And although many here have their reservations, I love the One Nite Alone show more than any other since then.

Rave live, was embarassing.

... this edition you have is an incomplete boot!
see this thread:

Biggest ploblem: the quality isn't as good as the official release.
There's a mismatch between the pictures and the sound.

I found this DVD much nicer than I ever thought I would!
It's FUNKY ...

but of cause, ALL the 80's concerts are far superior to this one!

yeah, i have the original version on VHS from when it was on pay per view. if i liked it more, maybe i'd be more concerned. but i don't, and i think the chinese bootie is at least kinda interesting as a conversation piece. so that's the version i'll keep, unless the real version should fall out of the sky into my hands one day. which, well, stranger things have happened...
