Fucking great song, fucking great album.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

To me, this is Prince's coolest Hendrix tune.

My favorite moment:

Everybody on this Earth has got a vice...
(lumbering rock riff, bluesy as it wants to be)

*string squeak*

mine, little darling...

That string squeak for me is right up there with the introduction of the snare in "Joy in Repetition" or the tone of the distorted guitar solos in "Shockadelica" and "Positivity."

nod It's cool...I liked that little dialoge he had going with "god" during the end...not that he learned anything from it...but I guess most men are confused by love and lust. smile

Baaaaabaay Baaaaabay Baaaaabaaaaay Im guilty in the first degreee!

TEMPTAAAAASHUN!
WORKIN MY BODY WITH A HOT FLASH OF ANIMAL LUST....

I never knew someone could say the same word with such repetition and have it sound different everytime,

Clearly on of his vocally distinct songs-- you hear it andyour like-- damn, thats my boy.

And your ready for anyone to start teasing you when they bust in on you screamin' it at the top of your lungs.
You may even keep singin'
nutty

Hot ass song.
Fuckin' sweet.

"Working my body, working my body, working my bodyyyy."

You can say that again. And just as the dialouge is ending, the piano comes in, drives me nuts, makes me wanna hump something sexy

Phantastique

This song is fantabulous.

I had always preferred the extravagance of the 1999 album, with it's longer songs containing what seemed at times like "stream of conciousness" vocals, and was slightly dissapointed (only slightly!) that Purple Rain and ATWIAD tended towards more concise creations. But then I got to Temptation and my god, it was just...fantabulous. Music, subject, lyrics, vibe, and those vocals! It just has it all.

Although when I first heard the bit at the end when he says "I have to go now...I don't know when I'll return" I got really nervious that it was The End and His Royal Badness was abdicating his throne to go find himself! I think I had probably heard those rumors of the time too that he was going to retire from studio recording. It freaked me out for a good while until I heard news of a new project.

I think the screaming and the God voice turned off a lot of people who bought the album expecting Purple Rain II

When I first bought the album, "Temptation" was the only song that I liked until I listened to the album some more.
