That string squeak for me is right up there with the introduction of the snare in "Joy in Repetition" or the tone of the distorted guitar solos in "Shockadelica" and "Positivity."

It's cool...I liked that little dialoge he had going with "god" during the end...not that he learned anything from it...but I guess most men are confused by love and lust.

This song is fantabulous.

I had always preferred the extravagance of the 1999 album, with it's longer songs containing what seemed at times like "stream of conciousness" vocals, and was slightly dissapointed (only slightly!) that Purple Rain and ATWIAD tended towards more concise creations. But then I got to Temptation and my god, it was just...fantabulous. Music, subject, lyrics, vibe, and those vocals! It just has it all.

Although when I first heard the bit at the end when he says "I have to go now...I don't know when I'll return" I got really nervious that it was The End and His Royal Badness was abdicating his throne to go find himself! I think I had probably heard those rumors of the time too that he was going to retire from studio recording. It freaked me out for a good while until I heard news of a new project.

I think the screaming and the God voice turned off a lot of people who bought the album expecting Purple Rain II

When I first bought the album, "Temptation" was the only song that I liked until I listened to the album some more.
