Quality CONtrol b4 the 90s, Prince's output was, by n large, CONtrolled around 9 songs or so per album.
do u blieve Prince's 90s output would b CONsidered as gr8 as b4, if he had CONtrolled his projects 2 around 9 songs or so? eye mean, was there really a decline n the quality of those best 9 songs or so n the 90s? eye'm not sure... what do u think? love

If you take the case of IMO the vastly over-rated Lovesexy, this includes the following very average songs:
When 2 R in love Glam Slam Positivity and Dance on that's nearly half the album! The same 'could' be said of SOTT, tracks such as It Hot Thing Beautiful night Play in the sunshine are hardly classics either. I think the only album where you could say all tracks are near perfect and you would't change it is Purple Rain, by no means a favourite of mine, but I think it tops the charts in terms of the ratio of greats songs to bad. I'm sure Graffiti Bridge [all the Prince tracks], D&P, certainly the Symbol album and TGE and 'just about' Emancipation all contain at least 9 high quality tracks. I'm less sure all the 80s albums have 9 great songs on them. Just my opinion. I am biased though, as I love the period 92-95, great LIVE instruments, great guitars.

In the end, Prince should do what he feels is necessary: 9 songs or 19...it's his call). I also think that your observation of him being "CONtrolled" is diffused due in fact to two wonderful double-albums from the eighties (1999 and SOTT). I'm not trying to throw any negativity your way, I just really got to wondering what your true intentions were with this thread (BTW- I rarely post, but this pulled me out of my cave
