What did you think of the fighting with Wendy and Lisa that Prince was doing in the eighties??? I found this little snipit from Possessed so unlike Prince it just makes my jaw drop.

To this day I still don't understand why Prince turned on his friends/bandmates like that.

Possessed is like the National Enquirer -- so many lies mixed in with the truth, it's best not to read it at all lest ye believe what is not true.

I read this book about a year ago and this author seems to want to shine a rather negative light on Prince. Does anyone know the connection between Alex Hahn and Prince. It just seemed really personal like they had a beef or something.

The only problems I had with the book were the author's biased album reviews that had to be taken with a grain of salt and the occasional spelling error.

I thought all the information in this book was derived from interviews or outside research. Just how much is blatantly untrue?

Yes Hahn was legal counsel for Uptown and I think it was pro bono (without pay).
Eventually they settled out of court and Hahn wrote the book with info he had gleaned from sources during the lawsuit. Hahn used to hang out around here when it was the antiPrince.org but after Musicology's success the antiPrince crowd sunk back into the shadows.

Two very good books on Prince that present the good, bad ,and ugly are Purple Reign by Liz Jones and DSMR by the legendary Per Nilsen.

and in prince's defense, wendy and he seemed to act more like a married couple so while his comments were innappropriate, you could tell they loved each other..and knew how to get under each other's skin...

I don't believe everything in the book but, Prince was running around on Wendy's sister and she had issues with this. Wrong for Wendy to be in Prince's business but it was also wrong for him to take out his relationship problems with Susan on Wendy.

Wendy was in the band (or at the very least had started hanging around and traveling with them before Dez's departure) when he was seeing Susan Moosie, Jill Jones, and Vanity. And she was also around when he was seeing Sheila E. between late '84 and early '85 when they were recording her album. So if Wendy and Lisa chose not to warn Susannah or if Susannah ignored their warning there's really no need for any of them bitch about it after the fact.
