prince remasters...will we ever see them?

is there any major artist from the 80s who have not had their albums re-released apart from prince?....i wish to f**k he would sit round a table with warner and get this sorted out...if he can get one album deals with major labels, he can sort this out and let his millions of fans hear his albums as they should be heard nowadays(with extras and unreleased tracks on a bonus disc of course biggrin )....come on prince....do it for your loyal followers...you might be surprized how much money this will be worth deal
...
...
oh yeh...just a quick question if anybody knows.....does the rights to his original masters return to prince 25 years after the album release date?....i remember reading this somewhere but i dont know if it is true or not...

There was actually a story on Billboard this past week about U2's back catalogue. Apparently it's never been re-mastered either. And unlike Prince, they DO own their masters, so I'm not sure why they haven't revisited their back catalogue.

Lets pretend Prince & WB come to an understanding & released remastered cds - would you want a remastered 1999 if all the cuss words were censored out?
I think if Prince releases remastered sonngs he will repackage them to avoid the editing process & just avoid songs with objectional language.

I don't think that will be an issue. He's already put Crystal Ball up for download on NPGMC and the objectional language on that set wasn't edited out.

I think, from what Prince has previously said, that it is 30 years.

I think this is a good sign where already released past material is concerned.

We know Prince is somewhat of a revisionist - The Christ, 1999: The New Master. for example, and changing the lyrics to songs performed live, this goes hand in hand with his ceasation of any swearing on new material.

But not censoring CB when it was put up for download may indicate that he isn't too concerned about past material containing swearing and explicit language. This may indicate that any future remasters would be just that, remastered, not altered.

How this bodes for any future release of unreleased Vault material is hard to determine, I would say if he was ever in the mood to release older material again, he would edit out the "undesirable" language, since it's the first time it would be officially available (like he played around with the editing and mixing on CB).

Of course it could just mean they were too lazy to censor the CB tracks. wink

Hmmmm, it did just occur to me whilst writing that, that it's a terrible shame that we even have to consider such situations. neutral
