Why do I need to be impotent? I never thought jacking a thread could be so arousing.

I always loved IT.

It's very sparse and dark, and the beat is almost laughable. But somehow, in Prince fashion, it all just works.

Pagey

I used to hate this song for YEARS, but as is the case with a lot of Prince songs, all of a sudden I got it. Now its definitely one of the highlights of SOTTs for me. It's a classic Prince song.

Prince fans will always try to find the substance in material like this. Although if almost any other artist did it, it would be panned as 'drivel'. By his standard, there is nothing interesting or inspired about this song. Like a few other tracks on 'Side 2', had it been omitted 'SOTT' would have been a flawless recording.

a) It is on side 1
b) As has already been mentioned , its sequenced perfectly in the album , oherwise side 1 might be a bit too whimsical IMO , Prince is changing up the mood at just the right time
c) This song is a CLASSIC , hypnotic , compelling , it drags you in and makes you submit to its brilliance , give in to IT , give in to IT , truly great .
Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :

I guess I should explain. And I'm showing my age in doing so. 'Side 2' is a reference to the LP configuration. When 'SOTT' was originally released it was a double album. 'Side 2' was 'It', 'Starfish and Coffee', 'Slow Love', 'Hot Thing' and 'Forever In My Life'. And ultimately I suppose this affects your general perception of the music and the sequencing. You've probably always listened to the first 9 songs on the album as one continual flow of music. I had to get up and turn the record over after 'The Ballad of Dorothy Parker'. As such, I've always listened to that particular group of songs on 'Side 2' as a seperate entity from the other three groups of music. I see 'it' (figuratively and literally) as the weak link on 'SOTT'.

I like this song too. However, "Rebirth of the Flesh" would've been better IMO.

Thanks for representin' for those who have been in the gang long enough to have Prince records. I count myself in that number. I have the double-album of SOTT, and 1999 as well. For us, there are FOUR sides!

The most recent record albums I have are Lovesexy/Batman.
Come here, babe.. yeah...
