I've yet to discover an embarrasing musical moment Maybe not so musical, but finally! [Edited 7/10/05 15:03pm] You know, I was at this show, and I don't remember him falling down. 'Course, I was so high up in the nosebleeds, he coulda been raped by a rhino and I might not have noticed...

Had Potential. Can't stand it. Sung lyrics would've helped. "He's a musician's musician..."

Now that's a very good point! When you record as much as he does, you have to expect that your shit is going to get out there. And even his shit stinks. Come here, babe.. yeah...

Musically, this is his lowest-- it's one of the few times where Prince's worst was no better than anybody else's worst save for Mad Sex. Then again, he might be more embarassed about songs like Let's Pretend We're Married at this point. what about "The One", and "Come On"? "The One" is okay but it only seems like a standout track due to the rest of that garbage on the album. That album's so bad I got embarassed even when nobody's around-- both times I listened to the album.

well he did play music fomr it on the "dark first half" of the Lovesexy tour, and then he did release an intrumental of Superfunkycali on the npgmusiclub, and he did include a version of 2 nigs united on the aftershow cd of ONA live.... so I think some of his quotes about "don't buy the black album" are a bit of drama for drama's sake.

One of the my all time favorites, it proved to me that he was a creative god. Putting himself in the third person, the minimal beat, the scary organ loop in the break, prince playing the cop, the telephone voice, the scissorlike sample that's used on the beat for emphasis late in the song... the improve guitar throughout, the funky chane that comes at "kick your ass"...
How could he be embarrassed by the Black Album? the instrumentation and effects are so creative and strong. it's such a slab of flavour. I don't know what embaresses prince, but I'm embarrassed of "We March" or maybe "We Gets Up" or even "right the wrong" or "Rest of My Life" Well I only possibly think he could be embarrassed by it because he let his dark side out on that album and we all know now he is a goodie goodie JW so I guess I think he would just be embarrassed that he made such a carnal, dark, album with alot of swearing, and negativity. Plus I think on Dead on it he was obviouisly threatened by the new wave of rap taking over and him recording that song seemed very spiteful. I don't know he never playes music from the black album...I'm guessing he just wants that music to disapear. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I agree. I think he just said that at the time cause he was hurt that it wasn't a big hit album. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I think the main thing would be New Power Soul. The first blazingly obvious thing would be the fact that he tried to blame New Power Generation' when we all know it was his doing! I still like some of that album, but stuff like 'Hot With U' were probably written while he was on the toilet having a crap
