Prince and Amp Fiddler I recently recorded p-funk keyboardist Amp Fiddler at my studio in Brooklyn. I later found that he did some work with Prince? Do any of you know what projects he was involved in?

I saw Amp on BET and they mentioned that he had worked with Prince. I discovered that he played keyboards (I believe) on a few songs on Graffiti Bridge and was featured briefly in the movie.

Joseph "Amp" Fiddler played keyboards and did background vocals on "We Can Funk" on Graffiti Bridge. |

I'm unaware that he appears in the film. Those shown performing with George Clinton briefly (George Clinton's Funkestra) are credited at the end: Patrick Adams .... George Clinton's Funkestra Stevo Armani .... George Clinton's Funkestra Atlanta Bliss .... George Clinton's Funkestra Mallia Franklin .... George Clinton's Funkestra Morris Hayes .... George Clinton's Funkestra Eric Leeds .... George Clinton's Funkestra London .... George Clinton's Funkestra Scott March .... George Clinton's Funkestra Spark .... George Clinton's Funkestra Steve Star .... George Clinton's Funkestra Kenneth D. Towns .... George Clinton's Funkestra Chris 'Doctor D.' Worthy .... 2 my knowledge, they haven't even been in the same room together.
As we all know, the original "We can Funk" dates back to '86. When Prince re-hashed it for Graffiti Bridge, he sent the tapes to George, and as Prince puts it "P" on it", and George sent it back. This happened back and forth (many Prince collabs have been created this way, Like with Martika - "Love thy will be done"). When George got the tapes, he added his contribution to it, but as we all know, George doesn't play any instruments, so he got his band and Amp Fiddler to "P" on it with his keyboards, and the tapes got sent back to Prince. So yes they did work together per se, but not side by side. This is only what Ive heard, anyone please correct me if what I have posted is wrong Xperience the Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com/

Amp's CD is pretty tight. "Dreamin" is a damn good cut. "But what of black women? . . . I most sincerely doubt if any other race of women could have brought its fineness up through so devilish a fire." -- W.E.B. Du Bois --
