That little minor-pentatonic noodling he does on the "jazz" tunes ain't even close. I love Prince (and his guitar playing), but I gotta keep it real. Benson is in the first tier of jazz guitarists and Prince is not. | |

This is the opposite of the question at hand... but Maroon 5's cover of "Pure Imagination" has this guitar solo about halfway through that always reminds me of Prince's playing. My boyfriend agrees... I mean, like, where is the sun? | |

you mean that prince plays pentatonic when he plays clean jazz .not true at all.
creamy instrumental,she spoke to me and so many other tunes have jazz guitar. not as good as benson but pretty good. why he wouldnt play jazz scales??? you think prince don't know jazz scales??? thats apsurd. jazz is in his blood. | |
