May 26 in Prince history - Jill Jones album released Catch-up time again.
May 26, 1986 - Prince and Sheila E record The Pride And The Passion May 26, 1987 - Jill Jones' self-titled album released Jill Jones' album is another of Prince's best side-projects (many would argue THE best) - full of great tunes and great production (much of which isn't Prince). I love it, and it's a long time since I've listened to it, so I'm about to put it on.

May 27th in Prince history...no one buys the Jill Jones album...(Many more would argue the WORST side project.)
No offense Booyah, but that album bit the big one. And when you hear Prince's versions, you realize how UNinspired JJ's album really is.

Jill Jones is a good album. I bought it as soon as I heard "Baby, you're a Trip". I knew that was a Prince song before I even knew who Jill Jones was.

The Jill Jones album is a masterpiece imo, funk + pop + rock (all day all night), with a jazzy feel, "g-spot" the song that Madonna never had, Jill is/was? truely a great singer, it's a shame, only we (Prince fans) know.
I think that "The Family" album + Parade + this record are a sort of trilogy.

The odd thing about Jill's album is that it consisted almost entirely of rejected Prince songs. Most of us have the original "Prince" versions of all those songs. It's not a bad album and there a few highlights. But,honestly,it doesn't really give us a chance to hear the "real Jill Jones",and what SHE is capable of,by herself. I like it. Maybe just to justify the amount of money I had to spend on it, to buy it last year. That album price is steap. But not close to what you have to pay for The Family, Mazarati, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6 or Madhouse.
How is the The Family album? Better than Jill Jones ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
....and remember: Members get to hear it last

The song that really hit me from that album was 'Violet Blue'. It's a powerful joint with good emotion. I thought Prince's versio of 'G-Spot' was better. I do like 'Mia Boca' though. Other than that, I didn't feel it too much. "Funk is something you learn in school
and there ain't nothing funky about bein' cool."
