This may not be new but I haven't seen a thread address this. Is Prince schizo or what?!? The girls wanted to leave the Revolution but were persuaded to stay through the Parade tour. After the tour's finale in Japan, Prince invited the girls over a few weeks later and "fired" them from the Revolution (from what I have read on the subject.) Bobby Z. was the only other member fired at that time as Dr. Fink opted to remain with P and Brown Mark opted to quit. If the girls were "fired" by P, why has he "periodically" gone out of his way to "reach out" to Wendy and Lisa such as having the message "Wendy and Lisa please call home" flash on a video screen prior to his 1992 Japanese Diamonds and Pearls show? Even more confusing, dedicating a song to them as if they left and he hasn't a clue as to why they no longer connect (as alluded to in "In This Bed I Scream")

Am I missing something? Was/is P just that conflicted about their absence that he acts out in odd ways? He did fire them, right?

He fired them, but only to save face to himself because they were leaving any way.

That's probably what pissed him off, that they didn't need him, they were off to do their own thing. I'm not saying Prince needed them either, but I can imagine it was a blow to his ego at the time.

The 'Wendy & Lisa please call home' flash and the dedicated on ITBIS, I would say, are more for the fans benefit than anything else. I mean, if he wanted contact with them, all he had to do is pick up the phone. It would suggest, he wanted them to come back to him after seeing/hearing about these 'messages' - thus giving Prince the upperhand in any reconciliation.

i agree somewhat with metroarea...

except for the prince requests being for the benefit of prince...wendy stated that prince always knew how to get a hold of them but never did...

that leads me to think that its once again about his ego...(just like him firing them before they walked).....he probably wanted *them* to come crawling back to him....


the cool thing is that by nikka initating communication, both sides won...
