Xenophobia recorded in 1988! I was just listening to Eric Leeds' first album 'Times Squared' and had quite a surprise.
Track 4 (on the CD only) is a tune called 'Overnight, Every Night', and guess what... It appears to be an early version of Xenophobia! The horn riff is almost identical, and it's got a similar loose jazz feel, but it's not as funky as Xenophobia. 'Overnight, Every Night' was released in 1991, but was actually recorded in 1988 (possibly even late 1987) and is credited to Prince, Eric Leeds, Levi Seacer Jr & Sheila E. Check it out.

!!!
I just dug out my copy & gave it a spin, you're right! It's the same song. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this before (maybe they have, and I just haven't noticed). I wonder if Eric, Levi & Sheila will get a credit on Xenophobia?

By the way, has anyone heard the titles of any more tracks that are on Xenophobia yet? (apart from the title track obviously).

I'd bet that the titles for the pages listed in the program for the ONA tour are the Xenophobia song names. Someone who actually bought the program will have to fill them in. No Candy 4 Me

I don't think the two tracks sound similar enough to be one and the same in writing credits. When I first heard the Xenophobia sample on NPGMC a while ago, I thought it was just a funked-up version of a Madhouse tune (Four or Eleven, or maybe some other one).
Of course, now that Eric Leeds is on tour with Prince, and playing Xenophobia live, discussions will take place if anyone considers it to be the same as Overnight, Every Night.

Eric Leeds is playing with Prince again? I thought those two had a falling out about Prince not paying Eric some money for a few concerts he played at? "Everybody want what they don't got..."

Well it looks like they've made up now. Maybe Madhouse 24 will finally get released!

Why is this "excellent?" So, basically, if Prince retitled "Let's Go Crazy" "Elevator Music" & released it, you'd all be giddy? He's selling you recycled product. And you're lapping it up like a kitten to a dish of milk.

"Overnight, Every Night" is the only bonus cd track listed Composition credits for this song are listed as Prince, Eric Leeds, Levi Seacer, Jr., and Sheila E. When comparing the two songs "Xenophobia" and "Overnight", the riffs are very similar and really I'm surprised that I didn't notice the similarities before now. But in my opininon they are very different songs even though they both return to a very similar theme or riff. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

wonder of prince credited James brown for the leadline in days o wild... which its actually "Caravan" 1964 cue it up and u tell me

Prince actually re-uses his music quite a bit, but usually tries to split it up between himself and side projects.
Examples: The Latest Fashion = The Time's "My Summertime Thang" "Adore" = Carmen's "All That" "The Max" guitar is from "Rave un2 The Joy Fantastic" "Scandalous Sex Suite" -- the long guitar solo is taken directly from Sheila E's "Dear Michaelangelo" But seeing as how it's his to use as he pleases, there's no harm in it.
